Role Description

The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for leading environmental, health, and safety for a research facility located in New Orleans, LA. Main responsibilities include leading and maintaining comprehensive EHS operations and programs and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role also includes delivering EHS trainings, conducting occupational safety assessments, managing accident investigations, and ensuring implementation of EHS best practices.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge and experience in Environmental Health and Safety compliance and management systems, preferably in a laboratory-based organization.
• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, laws, and standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) are a plus.
• Expertise in Accident Investigation to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Experience in designing and delivering training programs related to environmental, health, and safety topics.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with great attention to detail.
• A high level of initiative, self-motivation, and accountability.
• Excellent communication skills for effectively partnering with teams and stakeholders.

This position is for a night shift Mon, Tues, Wed, Sat 10pm-8:30am; however, training will occur on 1st shift Tues-Sat 6am-2:30pm until training is complete.

In this role, the individual will be responsible for operating a Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer and LC-MS/MS for confirmatory testing in accordance with the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations for all non-negative test results. This job also requires the individual to perform some QC duties. Must possess degree at the Bachelor level. Degree must be in biology, chemistry, or equivalent related field.

This position is Nonexempt. Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half.
