Job Summary
The SMT Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and preventative maintenance of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment during second shift hours, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production.
Job Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SMT equipment including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, screen printers, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and software issues on SMT production lines.
- Execute scheduled maintenance tasks according to established procedures and manufacturer specifications.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production line interruptions, providing timely and effective solutions to restore functionality.
- Utilize schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to guide repair and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with production operators and engineers to identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used accurately in the maintenance management system.
- Support equipment setup, calibration, and changeovers for various product builds.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development of maintenance best practices.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards, including ESD procedures.
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of SMT manufacturing equipment.
- Strong understanding of SMT processes, equipment operation, and common failure modes.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience with various SMT equipment brands (e.g., Fuji, Mydata, ASM, Panasonic) preferred.

- Maintain the customers’ latest contract on file at all times and be familiar with the terms and conditions of the contract regarding customer liability of material planning and production scheduling. This includes the liability window for Jabil material purchase order placement, purchase price for components, and liability for any in-house materials (purchased and manufactured).
- Be the workcell’s “expert” on all planning activities by supporting the Production Planner goal of never starting to build product without having a valid PO, adequate material quantities, and accurate BOM and an accurate routing.
- Lead the Workcell on the creation of Bills of Material (BOMs) and routings that allows accurate tracking of WIP assemblies and accurate inventory movement transactions.
- End-of Life (EOL) management should include chairing a meeting 30 days prior to the last planned build date to create tactics to support the EOL strategy. The Master Planner would own the build schedule, corrections and resolution of MPS to customer demand, planned tactics on deadlines for assemblies out of the various work areas on the floor, deadline for last shipment, and support plan for potential RMAs.

Jabil is seeking a Site Engineering Manager to lead industrial engineering, facilities engineering, and site infrastructure for a fast ‑ growing electronics manufacturing operation. This leader will drive production efficiency, equipment reliability, and site readiness across high ‑ mix/high ‑ volume PCB assembly and secondary processes.
What You’ll Do
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, building technical capability, coaching future leaders, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Oversee process engineering across SMT lines, secondary processes (e.g., conformal coating, selective coating, potting), and automated inspection systems (AOI/AXI, Neptune, etc.).
Optimize production layouts, workflows, and capacity to support throughput, cost, and quality targets.
Direct facilities operations, including preventive maintenance, building infrastructure, utilities, space planning, and site expansion projects.
Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and readiness of all site systems supporting electronics manufacturing.
Manage engineering budgets, capital planning, and resource allocation, understanding how engineering decisions influence productivity, cost structure, and P&L performance.
Partner cross ‑ functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS to support scalable growth and new product introduction.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, plus 5-8 years’ related experience and 2-3 years in a management role required , or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in electronics manufacturing environments with exposure to SMT assembly, PCBA flow, coating applications, and automated inspection technologies.
Strong foundation in industrial engineering principles, facilities management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Proven ability to develop people, strengthen engineering organizations, and build succession pipelines.
Analytical, data ‑ driven decision maker with awareness of cost drivers, ROI, and financial impact of engineering initiatives.
Effective communicator and collaborator with a hands ‑ on leadership style.
Responsible for the verification testing, diagnosing and repairing of electronic circuit board assemblies.
Third Shift: Monday - Friday 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Diagnose and repair to basic powered functional test failures (power, traffic, network issues) to a component level on electronic circuit board assemblies while maintaining minimal quantities of Engineering and Component hold assemblies.
· Exhibit proficiency in the use of electronic test and measurement equipment.
· Understand and utilize assembly documentation such as but not limited to the following; Schematics, BOM’s, EC documents, Visuals, Debug, Testing tools and procedures.
· Assist Test Engineering department in an ongoing data evaluation program for improving the efficiency of the diagnosis of assemblies.
· Understand, recognize and execute Jabil production requirements, rules, policies and procedures.
· Work as a team member to achieve Diagnostic department’s process yield goals.
· Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.

Drive continuous improvement projects utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and SPC to enhance SMT yield, throughput, and reliability.
Author and maintain comprehensive SMT process documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, and failure analysis reports.
Evaluate and implement new SMT technologies and industry trends to maintain Jabil's competitive edge and address evolving product requirements.
Lead efforts in root cause analysis for complex SMT failures, implementing robust solutions to prevent recurrence.
Represent Jabil in technical discussions with customers and suppliers regarding SMT process capabilities and new product introductions.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
8-12 years of progressive experience in SMT process engineering within a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
Strong Knowledge of FUJI Setup, Nexim and Valor
Demonstrated expertise in SMT equipment operation, programming, and maintenance, including printers, pick-and-place machines (e.g., Fuji, Programming, etc.), reflow ovens, and inspection systems (AOI, SPI, X-ray).
In-depth knowledge of various soldering technologies, solder paste chemistries, and component packaging.
Proven track record of leading process improvement projects and achieving significant yield and cost reductions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making (e.g., SPC, DOE).
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) and CAD software for DFM analysis.

The SMT Engineering Tech will be responsible for supporting the surface mount technology (SMT) production lines, ensuring efficient operation, high-quality output, and continuous improvement through troubleshooting, maintenance, and process optimization.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of SMT equipment including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, screen printers, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems.

SUMMARY
