We are seeking a Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 126-day assignment in Indiana, starting Mar 30, 2026. This role involves night shifts focused on daily rounding on all inpatients, managing new consults, and facilitating patient discharges, typically overseeing a total patient census of 20-30.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Daily rounding on all inpatients (ICU, stepdown) and new consults, as well as discharging patients.
- Manage an average daily patient load of 10-15, with a total patient census typically ranging from 20-30.
- Address cardiac cases including all adult cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections, etc), often involving high-acuity patients.
- Handle thoracic cases, primarily robotic surgeries, VATs, and thoracotomies; includes all thoracic surgeries except esophageal.
- Manage vascular cases, encompassing all types of open vascular surgeries (CEA, AAA, leg revascularizations, etc).
- Care for heart failure patients, including those with LVAD, ECMO, and impellas.
- Focus on critical care only, without first assist responsibilities.
