Position Overview
The Mechanical Preconstruction Leader is responsible for leading all mechanical estimating and planning activities during the preconstruction phase of commercial and industrial projects. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical estimates and budgets for commercial and industrial projects.
- Review mechanical drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and constructability.
- Collaborate with design teams, owners, and trade partners to optimize scope, cost, and schedule.
- Lead value engineering initiatives to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Conduct risk assessments and contribute to procurement strategies.
- Maintain preconstruction schedules and ensure timely delivery of mechanical estimates.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of process piping, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with BIM and virtual design tools.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices and LEED certification.
- Design-build or integrated project delivery experience preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Accubid estimating software is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating or preconstruction.
