Position: Sr. Hardware Design Engineer
Location: Endicott, NY - Onsite
Job Description Summary
Under general direction, has duties of instructing, directing, and checking the work of other electrical engineers. Performs an assortment of complex engineering duties such as the planning of manufacturing and the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus. Provides existing support to activities in the use of electrical devices and energy for commercial, domestic, and industrial use. Works directly with engineers in other disciplines to augment production size and value. May provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff. May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects. This is the highest level non-management position. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and seven or more years of experience.
- Design of complex high speed digital circuit card assemblies
- Design, analysis and verification of Digital circuits for FPGA and microcontroller interfaces such as PCIE, SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, DDR, Ethernet, ARINC, 1553, etc.
- Design, simulation and verification high speed interfaces (Signal Integrity)
- Circuit design tasks consist of part selection, schematic capture, PWB creation support, performance analysis and simulation and design verification testing.
- Support test and troubleshooting of systems, modules and sub-assemblies of digital modules
- Work closely with PWB packaging and layout engineers
- Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation
- Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders and other documentation
- Interface with other Engineering disciplines, Operations, Quality and other supporting functions to drive defect resolution to root cause
- Generate and implement improvements in product and test design and methodologies to reduce cost, increase yield and improve throughput
- Motivated self-starter who has the ability to work effectively in team environment
- Provide training and support to technicians and manufacturing personnel as required
- Lead/Mentor a team of junior engineers
- Interface with customers and suppliers as required
- Presentation of design to internal and customer review boards at milestone reviews.
- Support legacy design obsolescence issues and reverse engineering

Summary Description:
- High level design position involved in non-routine and complex assignments. Project Engineers and Project Architects work with the Project Manager to develop design solutions of a specific discipline which are incorporated into contract documents by the design team. While these positions are primarily technical, assistance with some project management duties is likely.
Primary Duties:
- Assist the PM in developing design parameters, scopes of service and person-hour estimates during the proposal stage
- Assign individual work tasks and provide guidance to subordinate team members of that design discipline. Discuss the desired expectations of the delegated work including the amount of time estimated to complete the work
- Responsible for the quality control of work products (e.g., reports, studies, drawings, letters, calculations, memos, etc.) for the specific discipline
- Responsible for the preparation of technical specifications
- Responsible for the processing of shop drawings and submittals
- Considers alternate designs and value engineering
- Responsible for meeting scheduled deadlines
- Monitor performance of project team members and provide feedback to the Project Manager. Discuss potential corrective action with the Project Manager as required
- Attend and/or lead client meetings/presentations – daytime or evenings
- Communicate with client representatives, contractors, suppliers, etc
- Participate and or lead site visits/inspections/documentation during construction

Job Title : Nuclear Engineer (Naval Reactors Engineer) Category / Component : Officer • Active Overview Design, regulate, and oversee the Navy's nuclear propulsion program, including reactor design, fleet operations, and eventual defueling and decommissioning of nuclear powered ships and submarines from Naval Reactors Headquarters and associated Department of Energy laboratories and shipyards.
Key Responsibilities Provide technical direction in areas such as reactor and fluid systems design, reactor physics, materials development, component design for steam generators, pumps, and valves, instrumentation and control for reactor and propulsion plants, testing and quality control, radiation shielding, and chemistry and radiological controls; review designs and analyses from laboratories, shipyards, and industry partners; coordinate with fleet units to ensure safe and reliable nuclear plant operation.
