What to Expect

  • Location: Portland, OR & Vancouver, WA—Premier VA Medical Campuses


Shifts: 8, 9, or 10 hours (varies by need)

  • 8-hour shifts, 5 days/week
  • 9-hour shifts, rotating 4 or 5 days/week
  • 10-hour shifts, 4 days/week
  • Rotating weekends and holiday coverage required.
  • On-call/overtime opportunities for emergencies.

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced and routine diagnostic imaging following VA and ARRT/ARDMS protocols
  • Prepare, position, and educate patients for exams; ensure safety and comfort at all times
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot cutting-edge imaging equipment
  • Accurately document procedures and manage patient records in electronic health systems
  • Uphold rigorous infection control and patient safety standards
  • Participate in on-call rotations and support emergency imaging needs

Role Highlights

MRI Technologists: Operate advanced MRI, follow detailed radiologist protocols, and support specialized imaging needs.

X-Ray Technologists: Deliver a wide range of radiologic procedures (routine to complex), both in-suite and portable; ensure image quality and radiation safety.

Ultrasound Technologists: Conduct standard and specialized ultrasounds, including biopsies; prioritize emergency cases, ensure quality and accuracy, and provide on-call coverage.


Physical & Occupational Requirements

  • Regular standing, walking (up to 8 hours), lifting/moving up to 50–100 lbs
  • Must have manual dexterity, emotional stability, and color vision
  • May encounter infectious diseases and diverse patient needs—PPE and safety protocols provided


Qualifications

  • MRI & X-Ray: ARRT certification in your discipline; 2+ years’ hospital experience, with recent (last 6 months) relevant work
  • Ultrasound: ARDMS with at least two specialties (e.g., RVT, OB/GYN); 3+ years’ recent hospital experience
  • All positions require BCLS (Basic Life Support), health clearance (including PPD, vaccinations), and professional liability insurance
  • Must be able and willing to commit to at least a 6-month assignment
  • Drug screen and background check required

What you will do:

The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI in accordance with departmental standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains and records a complete clinical history pertinent to examination requested.

  • Instructs patient as to nature of the exam being performed.

  • Assists in instruction of student technologists and new personnel.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of all MRI emergency procedures.
  • Provides proper hearing protection to all patients and visitors.
  • Effectively completes all required documentation related to patient care, imaging procedures and RIS requirements.
  • Documents and reports all incidents, radiation safety concerns and equipment malfunctions to coordinator in a timely fashion.

What you will need:

  • AAS Degree in Radiologic Technology
  • MRI experience
  • Current ARRT registration and NYS license required

Pay Range: $34.50 - $48.81

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

  • Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification must be obtained within first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
  • Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population serve within three (3) months of hire
