This critical role supports the health and safety of our co-workers from day one, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a culture of wellness throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities: Serve as a primary health resource for all co-workers, starting with onboarding and continuing throughout their employment.
Plan, organize, and direct all activities of Co-worker Health Services in alignment with federal/state regulations and agency requirements.
Conduct comprehensive health assessments for new hires, including drug screening, medical history review, lab work, chest x-rays (if indicated), and immunization verification.
Administer and manage the TB skin screening program in compliance with state guidelines.
Perform respirator fit testing and training as needed.
Promote and administer annual influenza and other vaccines, ensuring co-workers are informed about contraindications, side effects, and precautions.
Provide first aid and follow-up care for on-the-job injuries, collaborating with departments and supervisors to support recovery and return-to-work plans.
May serve as Workers' Compensation coordinator, managing injury documentation, treatment facilitation, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all co-worker health records and sensitive information.
Compile and present monthly and annual reports to support compliance with Joint Commission, state health departments, and other regulatory bodies.
Stay current on Co-worker Health trends and regulations, updating policies and procedures accordingly.
Participate in and support wellness, needlestick safety, and environmental safety committees.
Uphold Mercy's mission, values, and service standards in all interactions and duties.
Communicate effectively through clear, concise verbal and written updates related to co-worker health operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

We are a Level 2 Trauma Center, Level 1 Stroke and STEMI center, with Comprehensive Stroke Certification.
We treat all patients, from adults to pediatrics, and handle cases ranging from low acuity to critical care.

We are expanding from 61 to 73 beds, including six larger trauma bays and a dedicated 13-bed behavioral health area.

The waiting area will also be expanded for greater comfort.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2027, increasing the ED's size to over 65,000 square feet from the current 39,000 square feet.

About the Unit — Neurology (8E) Neurology 8E cares for patients experiencing acute and chronic neurological conditions such as strokes, seizures, brain tumors, and brain bleeds.
Team members gain valuable experience supporting complex neuro assessments, safety-focused care, and close interdisciplinary collaboration with therapy and neurology teams.
Overview Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients.
Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.
Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments.
Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing Nursing Diploma Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.
