American Traveler is seeking an experienced oncology RN for a night shift travel position on a 24-bed Oncology/Women's Surgical unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active ONC certification.
Details
- Position is located on the 9th floor Oncology/Women's Surgical unit (K9A) of an 815-bed acute care hospital in Asheville, NC
- 24-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
- Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Oncology and women's surgical patient population
- Procedures performed on unit include occasional pelvic exams, echocardiograms, and thoracentesis
- Standard unit equipment in use; EMR is Cerner
- Staff are required to work 6 weekend days per schedule
- On-call is rare
- Floating to other med/surg units is possible, though the team rarely floats
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date)
- ONC (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification required for all RNs in this oncology role
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in oncology required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Medical Assistant
- Demonstrates ability to recognize urgent/emergent needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification must be obtained within first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
- Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
