Assistant/Associate Professor Tenure-Track
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Community Nursing Department invites applications for full-time faculty positions for the Tenure Track. We seek individuals deeply committed to community-engaged research and practice in one or more of the following specialty areas: maternity and women's health; pediatrics, family health; community and population health; and mental health nursing. Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants will have an earned research doctorate in Nursing [PhD] or related field or its equivalent, a Master's in Nursing degree or its equivalent, and RN license in Massachusetts or eligibility for licensure. Applicants must have a successful record of teaching with the ability to sustain their program of funded research, secure external funding, and participate in community outreach. Although not limited to these areas, applicants with a program of research or scholarship in global public health, social determinants of health, community-based management of populations with chronic illness, informatics social justice, health equity and health disparities, community engaged or participatory approaches are encouraged to apply. Based on qualifications, faculty teach across all program levels. Additional responsibilities include student advisement and service.
PhD candidates will be considered. However, the applicant's PhD degree must be conferred by August 1 prior to the September start date. A letter from the applicant's faculty advisor confirming anticipated degree conferral date must be submitted with application materials.

The preferred applicant will have completed post-doctoral research training and also have advanced specialty certification in their area of expertise.

SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The ESOL Instructor provides group instruction to adult learners. Instructors are required to create lesson plans and align the curriculum with the Adult Basic Education Curriculum Framework for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The ESOL Instructor must maintain appropriate student records, conduct goal setting activities, facilitate activities to achieve students' goals, and document student outcomes. The ESOL Instructor is expected to provide academic advising to students and assist students with transitioning to next steps in their academic and/or career experience.
The contract period is through June 30, 2026, with possible renewal, September 1, 2026, thru June 30, 2027.
EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach one evening class of 6 hrs to WEP students.
- Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
- Create lesson plans and align curriculum with Curriculum Framework for ESOL.
- Maintain appropriate student records (e.g. attendance, goals, outcomes, assessments, contact notes, exit information).
- Conduct goal setting activities, facilitate activities designed to achieve students' goals, and document student outcomes.
- Provide academic advising to adult learners in morning and evening classes related to student progress, goals, and referrals to community resources.
- Assist students with transitioning to next steps in their job training and post secondary school transitions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications include:
- Proficient with all material handling and packaging devices including forklifts, pallet jacks and banding tools.
- The ability to understand and follow plant safety rules, such as wearing required PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, and gloves)
- Able to prioritize tasks and anticipate needs in order to effectively manage time in order to accomplish all tasks.
