- Ongoing) We are currently seeking a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for a locum tenens position near Traverse City, MI.

This role offers a unique opportunity for a skilled surgeon to provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care in a hospital-based setting.

The assignment requires on-call services and includes a mix of elective and emergent surgeries.

This locum tenens role is ideal for a physician who is flexible, experienced, and ready to jump into a busy environment with excellent support staff, including APPs and RNs dedicated to cardiothoracic care.

The position requires a surgeon to manage inpatient consults and surgeries, as well as to provide urgent on-call services.

There is no clinic coverage required.

Position Details: Position Type: Locum Tenens, Cardiothoracic Surgery (Hospital-based).

Assignment Duration: ASAP
- Ongoing.

Shift Type: Days.

Call Requirements: 24/7 call coverage, including cath lab and emergency surgeries.

Weekend Requirements: 48-hour on-call coverage for both Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities: Manage urgent cardiothoracic cases and be available for 24/7 on-call services.

Perform elective and emergent surgeries in a hospital setting.

Handle inpatient consults and cover the cath lab for cardiovascular emergencies.

Carry a small outpatient panel (if possible) to follow up on cardiothoracic cases.

Serve as the second call surgeon, with a first assist APP available.

Collaborate with support staff, including 1-3 APPs, who assist with rounding and patient care.

Ensure smooth operations with the support of a dedicated RN to facilitate scheduling and care coordination.

Schedule: Monday to Friday: Days with scheduled shifts and call coverage.

Weekend Coverage: 48-hour on-call coverage for urgent surgeries.

On-Call: 24/7 availability for emergencies after gratis and scheduled shift hours.

Key Information: Setting: 100% hospital-based role with no clinic coverage required.

Patient Demographic: Adult.

Support: OR, radiology, and lab services available onsite.

Volume: Approximately 10 surgeries per month for a full-time provider.

EMR System: Cerner.

Qualifications: Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery: Required.

BLS Certified: Required.

Active Michigan Medical License: Required.

Compensation: On-Call Rate: Must include 4 hours of gratis within the on-call rate.
