We're looking for music and pop culture fanatics to help create the best experience for our customers. As a Hot Topic Part-Time Assistant Manager Level 1, you'll be a huge part of our success by supporting the store leadership team in providing the best customer experience, ensuring that fellow fans can get their hands on the merch they love. You'll use your fandom knowledge to help train new recruits and ensure their success, and also support the management team in daily operations and meeting sales targets.
What You'll DoProvide an amazing shopping experience that will encourage customers to return. They'll be impressed by your product knowledge, customer experience skills, and use of the Force.
Step in and step up when needed. You'll cover the sales floor and provide leadership support when your Manager gets pulled away.
You've got the keys to the kingdom, and you're not afraid to use them! You'll open and close the store, as needed.
Work the register; you'll process sales transactions and use your fandom knowledge to drive add-on sales using additional benefits such as BOPIS and curbside pickup. We'll need you to also be able to close out the register and communicate and shortages or overages to your Store Manager.
Understand store sales plan, comp sales goals, and key KPIs: UPT and ADT.
Assist with planogram changes including store map, wall, fixture, & merchandising mix.
Let your voice be heard! You'll communicate fashion & music trend information to management and respective HQ partners.
While we welcome wizards, we don't like it when spells are stolen. You'll work with Store Management to ensure there's no misuse of spells and wizardry around theft.
Support the maintenance of the mother ship; you'll help keep the stock room organized and the store tidy.
Help develop and retain a super collaborative, passionate team to run your store alongside you.
Any other activities as assigned by your Store Leader.
What You'll NeedAt least 1 year of retail store experience. If you love music and pop culture, you're in the right place!
You have Avenger-like skills: communication, time management, professionalism, operations, and a drive to develop your peeps.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
The usual retail stuff (with or without reasonable accommodation): able to navigate your way around the store, merchandise product utilizing approved store equipment, and pack and unpack boxes of awesome merch that may weigh up to 50 pounds.

About the Job The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in leading a customer focused, top-line sales driven, profitable and productive store location. The Assistant Store Manager must also inspire and motivate others by exhibiting core value behaviors-including a customer focused selling culture, and ensuring the execution of the Store's KPl's. Assistant Managers also must hold store employees accountable to following all policies and procedures.
A day in the life, what you'll be doing:
- Displays a customer-focused mindset at all times and ensures all team members deliver an engaging, positive and authentic customer experience
- Handles customer situations in compliance with policy and procedures, attempts to \"solve for yes\" and escalates issues as appropriate
- Maintains a clean and well organized store, promoting a safe working and shopping environment to maximize the customer experience
- Shares feedback from customers with the leadership team to improve the overall customer experience
- Performs as the floor supervisor role as needed to cover non-peak periods (breaks etc.)
- Delivers an engaging, positive and authentic customer experience with all customers

Physical Requirements:
- The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- The associate must frequently sit/stand for long periods of time and climb ladders as needed.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach, twist or squat.
- Ability to maneuver around sales floor, stockroom and office areas.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
- Hotel, Airplane, and Car Travel may be required SM and above roles only.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Ability to work 32-40 hours a week is required. As a National Retailer, flexibility with work schedule (able to work weekends, nights, peak holiday periods) is required.
