The locum neurologist will provide comprehensive inpatient neurology services during day shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Responsibilities include evaluating and managing 12-18 patients per day, conducting new consultations, responding to stroke alerts, and performing daily rounds on assigned patients. The clinician will work within the facility's telestroke program framework and collaborate with the existing neurohospitalist team. Board certification in neurology is required, with no call obligations or APP supervision duties included in this assignment.

• 38 bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day that present with various acuities.
• We are a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility that is able to intervene and administer thrombolytics.
• Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization
• We have 5 PODs in our department, depending on acuity, is where the patient will be assigned
• Behavioral Health Pod
• We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care
• All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit. RN's must have ACLS and PALS required. NIH highly preferred, must obtain within allotted timeframe.

Responsibilities:

The Paramedic, under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician is responsible for facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The Paramedic participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and task. The role of the Paramedic Nurse Extender also, includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and the oversight of unlicensed personnel.
