What you’ll do

  • Own and optimize production processes for both existing and new products
  • Develop and manage mass and energy balances to improve performance and sustainability
  • Partner with internal teams and customers to deliver new ingredients and process solutions
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data, Lean principles, and statistical analysis
  • Identify opportunities to improve production rates, yields, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Reduce processing costs through yield improvements and alternative raw material sourcing
  • Create, maintain, and improve process documentation, control variables, and troubleshooting guides
  • Track process KPIs, analyze performance trends, and drive measurable improvements
  • Train and support operations teams on process control systems and core process fundamentals
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to resolve complex processing challenges
  • Support toll manufacturing and execute small capital improvement (CAPEX) projects
  • Drive scale-up of new products from pilot to commercial production and introduce new process technologies
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards
  • Actively participate in site safety programs and ongoing safety training


What we’re looking for

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial wet processes (experience with yeast extract or spray-drying is a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset

Job Description:

  • The Electrical Engineer supports facility power, controls, and automation systems used in the production of existing and new products (ProDry, nutritional, and extract products) at our Boyceville operation.
  • This position also includes supporting future investment and upgrades of existing systems.
  • The new team member will be the subject matter expert of all facility electrical systems.

Responsibilities Include:

Technology:

  • Remain current with the technological developments in power, automation, and controls
  • Build and manage a database of all plant electrical and control equipment, networks, and logic to manage reliability and obsolescence
  • Well-versed in all plant processes and control systems to provide support and troubleshooting as necessary

Project Support:

  • Manage production and support systems electrical and control hardware, systems software, programs, and networks for optimum reliability
  • Install, program, and repair devices and systems that are used to control, measure, and operate production processes
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve in the field of automation, measurement, and control technologies
  • Carry out systematic fault analyzes for repairs
  • Independently execute work according to specifications (maintenance plans)
  • Improvement and standardization of the electrotechnical infrastructure
  • Be a team player with effective communication and inform team of extraordinary events or important circumstances
  • Ensure documentation is adequate, accurate, maintained, and managed
  • Create risk and hazard assessments for newly planned projects
  • Red line drawing changes, coordinate update process, and redistribution

Innovation:

  • Represent electrical, automation, and process controls with all future processes or projects
  • Maintain a relationship with Innovation colleagues within the enterprise and industry

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Optimization of systems in cooperation with R&D, engineering, production, IT and HSE
  • Create risk assessments and weak point analyzes in the context of general occupational safety, maintenance, and repair, as well as quality management for electrical engineering
  • Improve energy efficiency (ISO 50.001) and maintain product safety (our highest priority) while performing job duties.
  • Assure compliance with Client Legal & Safety Procedures
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Attend educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks and participate in professional societies
  • Support and train maintenance and operations staff in automation systems to build skill set with maintaining and troubleshooting issues
  • Manage 3rd party contractors for engineering support, installs/modifications, and with systems or equipment maintenance
  • Assist with the implementation of new processes for the plant
  • Support technical needs of plant daily operations, as necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 year's experience in industrial food plant processes
  • 3 - 5 years' experience working in an electrical engineering role
  • Independent working style and able to deal with and handle changing priorities
  • Critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgment and decision-making, system analysis, adaptability, and monitoring skills
  • Creative, self-starter, and flexible
  • Production focus with a sound understanding of systems reliability and maintenance
  • Ability to work off normal schedule hours and weekends, when needed
  • Good communication, teamwork, and reporting skills

Preferred:

  • Previous experiences managing electrical systems and equipment
  • Previous project management and production process support experience

Education:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
