Description
Develop and support safety and continuous improvement activities by overseeing the tooling/fixture procurement process from design through build, including the supervision of tool makers & a broach bar technician. This includes machine shop fixtures and misc. work holding. The primary purpose of this position is to design innovative fixtures, assign work & direct the tool makers and manage/approve designs/procurement of our broach bar inventory. This position is critical in achieving operational excellence throughout the facility.
Requirements
· Design, implement, and trouble shoot work holding, gauges & equipment components used in production machines.
· Out-source work to vendors and follow-up with build schedules. Evaluate build time & skill level required to build items and determine cost & lead time. Follow-up to ensure build is on time.
· Issue purchase orders for materials and tool room supplies and ensure correct items are ordered and arrive on time.
· Supervise all shifts of the tool room & broach bar technician. Assign work, direct activities and ensure 90% on time completion. Mentor, train and motivate employees to continually develop their skills.
· Manage broach bar processes from design review/approvals, broach bar inventory management (quoting, ordering, and procurement), trouble shooting, and problem-solving broaching issues on the floor.
· Tool Room leadership, process, tooling, & fixture problem solving. Toolmaker training in best practices and promoting continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Productivity, On-time delivery, & Employee Development.
· Identify areas for improvement and implement Lean Manufacturing principles to continually improve processes, equipment & practices.
- Establish & maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Competencies:
· Excellent communications skills to be able to interface with a multitude of various personalities & attitudes and still maintain a professional demeanor.
· 3D Solids modeling design experience, preferably PTC Creo.
· Can develop innovative tooling designs that are ergonomically sound and are easily machinable with proper GD&T and material call outs.
· Understands tool steels, nylons and various non-ferrous materials to help improve fixture durability while maintaining a lower cost.
· Capable of troubleshooting broach tooling issues or interested in learning about the use of these tools.
· Provide recommendations in broach bar design on new and existing broaching tools.
· Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point knowledge & use.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Two-year associate’s degree in Tool and Die Design
· 5 to 7 years related to tooling design or tool room machinist experience.
· Supervisory skills and competencies

Manufacturing Engineer – Hands-On Operations Focus
Position Overview
We are looking for a mechanically inclined Manufacturing Engineer who thrives on the production floor and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. This is not a desk-only engineering role. The right person will be equally comfortable analyzing data and physically working alongside maintenance and production teams to solve equipment, tooling, and process challenges in real time.
This role plays a key part in driving capital projects, strengthening plastics processing performance, improving automation reliability, and enhancing overall plant efficiency. Success in this position requires practical mechanical ability, strong troubleshooting skills, and a proactive, get-it-done mindset.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead capital equipment and infrastructure projects from concept through implementation.
- Spend significant time on the production floor supporting molding and automation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, tooling, and automation issues hands-on.
- Work directly with maintenance and operations teams to improve equipment uptime and reliability.
- Identify root causes of process failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Drive safety, productivity, and cost-improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate timelines, milestones, and cross-functional communication for engineering projects.
- Support tooling improvements, machine modifications, and equipment upgrades as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Packaging, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics processing.
- Demonstrated experience managing capital or process improvement projects.
- Strong mechanical background — capable of physically troubleshooting equipment and working directly on machinery when needed.
- Ability to read prints, understand mechanical systems, and collaborate closely with maintenance.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production setting rather than a purely office-based environment.
Additional Experience That’s a Plus
- Experience in injection molding operations.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or PMP certification.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Background in automation systems troubleshooting.

Description
- Assist with creating, implementing, and improving the plant's future state EHS management system. Support behavioral-based safety programs and processes.
- Incorporate new EHS regulations, directives, and standards into the plant's management systems. Conduct regular internal EHS auditing to ensure compliance, including follow-up on incident/accident investigations through the internal EHS system, corporate audit, and compliance inspection actions.
- Interact with the production and maintenance team to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Train, audit, instruct, and correct where necessary.
- Chair, conduct, and report on the actions of the Plant Safety Committee.
- Assist with preparing and executing the necessary air, water, and solid waste management activities, reporting and permit requirements.
- Assist with managing and coordinating safety training for the entire facility.
- Ensure that Federal, State, and local EHS laws, regulations, codes, and rules are followed.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, QC Laboratory, Sourcing, and Engineering to institute EHS controls and remedial measures to reduce risk due to EHS conditions, behaviors, procedures, or equipment.
- Maintain safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene programs, including PPE and ergonomic assessments that align with corporate goals and programs.
- Create ways to keep workers, contractors, and visitors safe from harm by working with peers to identify and resolve unsafe acts and conditions.
- Inspect machines for safety devices and guard compliance.
- Evaluate current and future equipment, products, facilities, or processes and those planned for future use through a Management of Change process.
- Utilize and enhance corporate programs identifying, eliminating, and mitigating hazards found on site.
- Review injury data to identify trends and implement programs and practices to address identified hazards.
- Documentation/Records Management — Capturing, storing, and maintaining information in written or electronic form as required by policy/regulations.
- Evaluate the probability and severity of accidents by completing risk assessments. Provide specialized technical advice and support on all aspects of tool design, machining, manufacturing, and estimating.
- Engage site leadership in making decisions and solving problems. Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Knowledge of Six Sigma/LEAN is a plus.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental policies, regulations, programs, and procedures, including Hazardous Waste Management, Air Emissions Calculations, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: A bachelor’s degree in occupational health, Safety, or a related technical field is preferred.
Experience And Training
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Equivalency may be considered with a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
- Excellent verbal, written, and oral presentation skills required in English, with Spanish proficiency preferred.
- Additional certifications and training in Safety, Environmental Compliance, and related fields are highly desired.
- Prefer candidates with experience working in a Union shop environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 Management Systems
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Competence in the preparation of technical documentation
- Proven EHS background (ideally supported by environmental experience)
- Team and Relationship building
- Demonstrated ability to identify and assist with the development of others
- The ability to engage and influence leaders with appropriate business acumen is highly desired.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
