The Raytheon Mechanical Engineering (ME) Organization leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. Within the ME Organization, the Undersea, Sensors & Structures (USS) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of a set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers. 

The USS department is looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer II, located in Portsmouth, RI.

What You Will Do:

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.

• Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions (i.e. structural/thermal analyses and electrical engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, team environment.

• Validate design fit and functionality by rapid prototyping and/or simulation

• Support the factory and suppliers with product integration

• Participate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.

• Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted.

  Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design, documentation and fabrication. 

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of undersea systems and electronics packaging. Knowledge of design for long term submergence, sealing, and corrosion resistance.

• Experience on DoD programs.

• Experience with PTC CREO and PDM.

• Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T experience.

• Experience managing financial and schedule performance of mechanical tasking.

• Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Specifications.

• Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a team

The UES department is looking for a full-time  Engineering Services Staff Technician. This role will be on-site and located in Portsmouth, RI. 

What You Will Do

• Work under moderate supervision with acoustic engineers to perform in-water acoustic sensor testing at our acoustic test facility
• Work with engineers to rig and fixture acoustic sensors and configure test equipment in support of in-water test events.
• Perform crane operations to rig and position engineering test articles and hydrophones/projectors within the test facility.
• Build and provide in-process test of acoustic sensors, including fine-pitch soldering, working with adhesives and chemicals, manufacturing tooling, curing cycles, fiber optics and general mechanical work.
• Work with facilities personnel to ensure day-to-day operation of test tank equipment, such as water filtration, overhead cranes and plumbing systems.
• Ensure engineering work in the test facility is conducted in accordance with lab operating procedures and company policy.
• Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for identified schedule, financial, and technical goals.
• Assimilate data packages for devices tested and make them available for cognizant engineering personnel.
• Provide written communications of work accomplished and any pertinent issues encountered to designated managerial and subject matter experts

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with performing technician work in an engineering and/or production test environment.
• Experience with the use of typical benchtop electronic test equipment inclusive of oscilloscopes, voltmeters, impedance analyzers and amplifiers.
• Experience with the following processes or similar; adhesive bonding, chemical mixing, encapsulation, paint application, chromate touch up, vapor degreasing, die grinding, sanding, mechanical press, oven curing, vacuum bagging, vacuum chambers, micro/grit-blast, fiber optic splicing.

• Lead efforts to develop design peer review packages, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• Experience in leading development efforts and teams with cost and schedule responsibility
• Extensive experience in the maritime or defense industries, including the design /build/test of mechanical designs that operate is these environments.
• Extensive experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), Tolerance Analysis, metal fabrication (machining, sheet metal), assembly joining techniques (fasteners, rivets, inserts)
• Experience with CAD modeling and Engineering Documentation practices.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of electronics systems in maritime environments. Specific knowledge of packaging electronic equipment to meet physical and environmental constraints is preferred
• Extensive experience with areas of the program lifecycle from pre-proposal technical baseline development to product test and evaluation
• Experience managing financial and schedule performance of program level tasking. Experience and certifications in Earned Value Project Management preferred
• Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems and determine root cause and corrective actions while leading a cross functional team. Experience with assessing program risk and opportunity impacts of the selected path forward is preferred

• Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions and examining functionality.

Procurement & Sourcing

• Execute purchasing activities for raw materials, equipment, services, and project-related items.

The Procurement Agent for the Mid‑Atlantic Business Unit provides day‑to‑day purchasing support to cement, aggregates, ready-mix, and terminal operations across the region. This role focuses on accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, order tracking, invoice resolution, vendor coordination, and ERP data management. The Procurement Agent works closely with plant maintenance, operations, accounts payable, and regional leadership to ensure materials and services are available when needed and that the procure‑to‑pay process runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Order Execution & Requisition Support

• Review and process purchase requisitions from Mid‑Atlantic plant and terminal teams.
• Create and issue accurate purchase orders in the ERP system with correct pricing, cost centers, and descriptions.
• Manage daily PO updates, including order changes, cancellations, and rush requests.
• Ensure all purchasing activity complies with regional policies and approval workflows.

Order Tracking & Operational Coordination

• Monitor open orders across multiple Mid‑Atlantic sites and proactively follow up on delivery status.
• Work with vendors to confirm ship dates, backorders, lead times, and transportation details.
• Support maintenance teams by tracking critical parts and expediting urgent orders to prevent equipment downtime.
• Communicate order delays or issues to plant leadership and help identify alternatives when needed.

Invoice & Payment Resolution

• Review invoices for discrepancies related to pricing, quantity, and receiving documentation.

• Support inventory accuracy by aligning POs, receipts, and item numbers.

ERP Accuracy & Reporting

• Maintain accurate and timely updates to PO statuses, receipts, and invoice information.
• Identify data inconsistencies and support cleanup of item catalogs or vendor records.
• Generate and distribute routine procurement reports for the Mid‑Atlantic BU (e.g., open PO reports, late orders, invoice blocks).

Compliance & Process Integrity

• Follow purchasing procedures and audit requirements specific to the Mid‑Atlantic region.
• Help identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce administrative delays.
• Support rollout of new procurement tools, system upgrades, or standardized workflows.

Project Overview:

As part of the Hampton Roads Connector Partners (HRCP) Joint Venture (JV) consisting of VINCI Construction, Dragados, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3BN Design Build project – the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

The project scope across a 9-mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the beginning of 2027.

Responsibilities:

As a Civil Works General Superintendent on the $3.3BN Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project (HRBT) in Virginia, you will schedule, coordinate, and supervise production and workforce engaged on your assigned area of the project.

• Supervises assigned project work and liaises between field engineering, estimating, and workforce to ensure
• project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
• Plans work methods, materials, equipment needs, and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews
• daily work schedule with direct reports, and provides input for weekly/monthly schedule updates based on
• project feedback.
• Reviews and understands the project specifications to support job setup activities. Works with work crews,
• field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on the job site.
• Presents production work plan during initial project meeting to ensure all project crews and leaders are in
• alignment.
• Coordinates with the internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that the project is equipped with
• appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within the assigned budget and
• schedule.
• Forecasts the work schedule to identify possible issues and provides technical or scheduling support
• recommendations to mitigate production issues.
• Provides technical input to identify and resolve project risks, including construction methods, work plan, material requirements, safety, and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using
• Company-approved document methods.
• Coordinates with internal and external departments to ensure all mandated inspections are completed
• within the requested timeframes.
• Supports and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment,
• worksite safety and documentation requirements.
• Supervises subcontractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work
• schedule or work-method adjustments regarding subcontractor activities, as needed.
• Coordinates projects close out activities in line with project standards and Owner checklist requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

• 7+ years of heavy civil construction experience (roads/bridges/marine/tunneling), with at least 3+ years of management experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are required.
• Strong leadership capability with internal drive to mentor and grow internal talent.
• Advanced knowledge of the construction site equipment operation and maintenance
• requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce the project safety programs.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract-specific plans and specifications.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamental geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint)
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, techniques, and best practices.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Work Environment:

• The position requires extensive on-site presence, often in challenging and potentially hazardous conditions.
• Occasional office work for project planning and reporting.
• Working on uneven and potentially hazardous terrain, including working at heights, underground, or near water bodies depending on the bridge/ tunnel location.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures as well as high levels of noise and varying levels of dust.

Physical Demands:

• The employee is required to stand; walk; climb ladders; sit; use hands, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Must be able to lift 50lb or more.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site.
