This 18-bed cardiac unit specializes in the care of both cardiac and vascular patients. The typical patient population found in the CCU includes but is not limited to patient's with diagnosis of chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, hypertensive emergency, pulmonary embolism and/or DVT, and patient's that have had AAA repair and carotid endarterectomy. Our unit is an intermediate/step down unit. The nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4 when caring for these patients. Our nursing staff work closely with both our cardiology and vascular teams to ensure exceptional care for our patients. It's Time to Get Better! Piedmont Eastside Medical is 310- bed multi-campus facility, serving Gwinnett and surrounding counties. Piedmont Eastside Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit provides high quality care to critically ill adult patients with varying critical conditions. This 24- bed mixed unit utilizes evidence based best practices in caring for patients and their families. Although Piedmont Eastside is not a trauma or open-heart capable facility, we are able to care for critical patients of nearly all other varieties. Our patient populations include neurosurgical patients requiring EVD and lumbar drain management; cardiac patients requiring IABP or Impella support, STEMI and post cardiac arrest patients, patients requiring targeted temperature management, as well as patients with multiorgan dysfunction or failure requiring CRRT, as well as various other conditions requiring intensive care and critical intervention
