Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Product Validation / DVP
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the Design Verification Plan (DVP) and validation activities for complex product systems. The role involves managing and executing mechanical, environmental, and electrical validation testing while working closely with internal teams and external test houses.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on prototyping and fixture design experience and the ability to independently drive validation programs in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities
In your role as Avionics Mechanical Engineer you will work with the avionics, mechanical, and integration teams to define the hardware interfaces, design the detailed harnesses including definition of the harness routing, design and test enclosures for environmental protection, and design the structural mounts for securing the hardware in the airplane. You'll have the opportunity to design, install, and test your hardware on a remotely operated aircraft, and you'll be an instrumental part of how our hardware teams come together on the airplane.
Basic Success Criteria
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
2+ years experience in mechanical or avionics hardware design
Ability to route harnessing (both in CAD and physically in the airplane) in a strategic manner
Experience working with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods
Experience designing and analyzing structural mounts

Responsibilities
In your role as a Radar Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing digital and analog circuits for our next-generation Radar system. You will be involved in all phases of development, from conception to production, tracing system-level requirements through to circuit-level design. You will drive the design and layout of a multi-processor with an FPGA on chip using DDR 4 memory, as well as designing switching and linear power supplies. The high-speed digital design is complemented by high-frequency analog and RF design up to 12GHz. You will own the schematic, layout, artwork generation and bring-up of hardware. You will be collaborating with the cross-functional teams, including mechanical and system engineering. You will be responsible for the certification of your design to DO-160, DO-254 design assurance and FCC certification. As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer (Aircraft and Maintenance) at Reliable Robotics, you'll play a critical role in developing and continuously improving our manufacturing, installation, and maintenance processes to meet design, regulatory, and business requirements (including safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery). Responsibilities
Responsible for installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, modification, testing, and fabrication of the Reliable-designed mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical/avionics assemblies, harnessing, interconnects, and other commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products
Conduct design for excellence (DFx) reviews to evaluate designs for cost, producibility, inspectability, consistency, adequacy, accuracy, and conformance to requirements
Collaborate with design, quality, and certification teams to embed manufacturability, compliance, and risk mitigation in all phases of product development (e.g., prototype, R&D, certification, and production)
Develop and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, quality management system, technical bulletins, engineering orders, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives
Develop processes to ensure accurate, current, and complete documentation (installation and inspection records, logbook entries, etc.) is utilized and maintained
Lead root-cause analysis and implement timely corrective actions to maintain schedule, quality, and reliability
Ensure an adequate supply of tools, serviceable parts, components, and consumables necessary for aircraft servicing and maintenance is maintained
Oversee routine/non-routine aircraft installations, inspections, and maintenance to ensure aircraft safety and availability across multiple airframes
Basic Success Criteria
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, systems engineering, or 7+ years of relevant experience leading aircraft maintenance/modification operations
7+ years of aircraft design, manufacturing, inspection, and/or testing experience
2+ years of experience leading complex projects or programs in aerospace, autonomy, or robotics
2+ years of experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, such as Altium, NX, and Teamcenter
Preferred Criteria
Holder of an FAA-accredited Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
Prototype/R&D development or New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
Experience with industry or regulatory requirements such as AS9100, CFR 14 CFR 21.137, and/or 14 CFR Part 145
Knowledge of highly complex medium to heavy turbine-powered aircraft, their powerplants, flight and stabilization controls, pneumatic, fuel systems, electronic engine, hydraulic, and navigation systems
Maintenance and rigging experience on P&W PT6A Engines/Airframes
Previous leadership or management experience

Responsibilities
In your role as Sr. FPGA Verification Engineer, you will own the FPGA integration and test environment for multiple airborne products including their test benches & simulation, continuous integration, timing analysis, elemental analysis, and build. You will develop DO-254 compliant processes for peer review and testing, perform qualification of relevant design and verification tools, and develop strategies for efficient verification of the product. Your contributions will directly enable the efficient realization of safe and dependable airborne electronic hardware at Reliable Robotics.
Basic Success Criteria
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years of full-cycle electronics hardware development experience in a professional environment

As a Systems Safety Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the Systems & Safety team and will report to the Systems & Safety Manager. The Systems & Safety Team is responsible for architecting systems which support novel safety-critical functions, establishing development methodologies for new technologies, and comply with the federal regulations.
As part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to expanding the aircraft's operational and functional capabilities. Your professional experience in aircraft and system safety will further strengthen the team's ability to meet rigorous expectations of stakeholders and certification authorities. You will collaborate with members from other groups within Reliable Robotics to ensure the safety of new and novel systems necessary for unmanned aircraft operations.
Responsibilities
In your role as a Systems Safety Engineer you will contribute to the development and architectural design supporting the delivery of prototypes and certifiable safety-critical flight systems in a dynamic start-up work environment.
You will have these responsibilities:
Apply systems safety methodologies as defined by industry standards
Develop new processes / methodologies used to certify autonomous / remote operations
Perform safety activities in coordination with design, development and verification of aviation systems including: Generate safety artifacts such as FHAs & Safety Assessments for aircraft, systems and equipment. Generate reliability or testability assessments to support safety activities. Validate safety requirements in collaboration with systems teams. Ensure consistency between the safety activities and development activities.
Support flight operations with safety of flight assessments for experimental operations
You'll also have the opportunity to interact with other domains within Reliable Robotics and become involved in a broad task spectrum not limited to typical system safety engineering activities.
Basic Success Criteria
Bachelor's Degree of Science or Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related discipline
Broad experience from 10+ years of safety engineering on various systems, including complex safety-critical aerospace systems
