Unit Details: Neuroscience ICU is an 18 bed critical care unit with primary focus being on the neurosurgery and neurology patient populations.

Collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, utilizing nursing, physician, respiratory therapy, and ancillary staff members to perform at the highest standard.

The NSICU will offer cutting edge neurosurgery technologies and innovations in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Details: BP6 is a 28 bed Medical-Surgical Remote Telemetry unit that includes a diversity of services including General Surgery, Bariatric, ENT, Urology, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, and Trauma Surgery.

We have many resources on our unit including a pharmacist, care manager/social worker, and scheduler to support unit based needs.

In addition, we have a wound ostomy team and an IV team available throughout the hospital for added support.

Team members have the benefit of a shared schedule in which we partner together to complete a final schedule based on unit needs.

Job Description: Assists surgeon with procedures related to the care of patient of all ages during surgical intervention.

Assists in the coordination of treatments with other disciplines.

Provides basic patient assistance.

Connects patients to clinical equipment as needed.

Practices aseptic techniques while preparing for surgery including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setting up instrument table.

Actively participates in surgical Time and out and operating room briefing according to the universal protocol.

Identifies correct surgical site with the circulating registered nurse and surgeon before incision of operative procedures.

Maintains an accurate account of supplies including sponges, needles and instruments.

Verifies count with the circulating nurse at end of procedure.

Prepares, identifies and verifies all specimens obtained during the surgical procedure.

Disposes of linens, needles and sharps in appropriate containers.

Assesses wounds and applies or changes sterile dressing as instructed by the registered nurse.

Maintains and documents universal precautions.

Initiates emergency procedures.

Participates in the admission and discharge process.

Performs billing as appropriate for services rendered or equipment used.

Participates in on-call rotations of operating room.

Acts as a preceptor for students assigned to the surgical unit.

Adheres to all policies, protocols and standards of care.

Job Duties Provides nursing care to Life Flight.

Follows and adheres to Act 37 standards and protocols.

Accepts a duty assignment at any program site as deemed necessary by program leadership to maintain operations.

Provides nursing care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to accepting medical facility.

Maintains thorough patient care documentation in the Electronic Medical Record.

Practices nursing within their scope of practice as defined by the state, BEMS (act 37) and Geisinger, maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.

Communicates educational needs to the Life Flight clinical leadership team, Chief Flight Nurse, or Medical Director.

Maintains programs monthly continuing education requirements.

Remains knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by Life Flight.

Maintains medical interior of Life Flight aircraft and ground ambulances.

Assures adequate inventory of equipment and supplies.

Assures a clean and orderly environment at assigned Life Flight base.

Functions as a flight crew member.

Assists the pilot when needed.

This includes attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation.

Serves as a transport resource as applicable on specialty team transports.

These include ECMO and NICU.

Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical crew members, patient, and equipment during all phases of flight.

Position Details AGP4 is a 27 bed unit that has a major focus on the neurosciences.

Neurosurgery patients can include craniotomies, cervical and lumbar surgeries, as well as brain and spinal tumors.

The focus in neurology can vary from stroke/TIA's to neuromuscular disorders, Guillain-Barré syndrome, MS and chronic migraines.

There is a 6-bed epilepsy unit that utilizes continuous EEG monitoring for our seizure patients and their needs.

The nursing staff is also flexible enough to navigate and take care of other medical/surgical and telemetry patients.

This patient population can range from chronic COPD and CHF patients to GI Bleed, orthopedic, general surgery and trauma patients.

Position Details The Cardiac ICU is a 30-bed unit caring for post Coronary Artery Bypass Graph patients (CABG), valve repairs, and other cardiac surgeries.

We also care for Cardiology (STEMI, post cath, TAVR, or watchmen procedures), Heart Failure patients (LVAD placement), Critical Care Medicine patients, post-op transplant patients, Vascular patients, and Esophagectomy patients.

HfAM7 utilizes ECMO, Ventilators, Intra-aortic balloon pump, CRRT, LVAD and RVAD.

Schedule is full time (.9 FTE), 36 hours.

Day/Night Rotation with every other weekend and every other holiday rotation .
