SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Applications Engineer partners with commercial, engineering, and operations teams to support customer growth by translating technical requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions. This role plays a key part in proposal development, estimating accuracy, and smooth transition of work into production, offering hands-on manufacturing insight and customer-facing technical support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability guidance during proposal and RFQ development
• Interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to extract technical and cost-driving details
• Collaborate with sales, estimating, and engineering teams to develop competitive technical solutions
• Support analysis of job performance versus estimates to improve future quoting accuracy
• Assist customers and internal teams with technical questions throughout the quoting and production lifecycle
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, quality, productivity, and delivery
• Support operational projects by validating work instructions and process alignment
• Escalate production or technical risks to appropriate stakeholders when identified
• Participate in customer interactions including calls, emails, and occasional site visits
• Promote safe work practices and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, applications engineering, estimating, or technical sales
• Hands-on knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, additive manufacturing, and assembly
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and basic GD&T
• Understanding of manufacturing cost drivers and estimating fundamentals
• Experience working with MRP or ERP systems to support BOMs, routings, and production planning
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical and customer-facing discussions4
