The Role We Want You For
The MEP Project Manager role is to provide quality control for mechanical, electrical, plumbing design, bidding, and construction for Clayco projects. This includes development of MEP scope documents, MEP bid package development at very early stages of scope development, and subcontractor negotiations. This role also provides document review / leadership to design team and clients, responds to scope modification evaluations during construction, and is the sounding board between original scope and field scope. As well as on-site supervision and coordination of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and elevator subcontractors, and successful completion of construction projects to meet time and cost objectives with respect to quality, contracts, and scheduling. Observe work in the field and compare to drawings to ensure details are installed per the drawings and specifications. Be a key part in developing and implementing Clayco Commissioning process.
The Specifics of the Role
- Plans, MEP systems interrelationships, construction sequencing and project schedule.
- Facilitate problem solving, as may arise, between MEP Subcontractors during construction.
- Validate design issues related to MEP and suggest alternative solutions.
- Assist in the receipt and review of MEP submittals.
- Log and post all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings.
- Assist in the scope review, budgeting, and justification of MEP change work order.
- Assist in Quality Control process of the installation of MEP work.
- Work with Project management team to direct, monitor and oversee the activities of MEP Subcontractor.
- Coordination and administration of MEP related materials, systems, and shop drawings submittals.
- Liaison with Consultant MEP Engineers, Inspectors, and relevant staff.
- Ensure that MEP Subcontractors provides and adheres to relevant Quality documentation/records.
- Ensure that MEP Subcontractors adheres to Project safety regulations.
- Assist in the testing and commissioning of MEP equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 6-10 years of experience in the field or building mechanical/electrical commissioning experience.
- Have commissioning experience or certification of ASHRAE or BCA (University of Wisconsin Extension).
- Know plumbing and fire protection field and Commissioning requirements through experience and supplemental training courses.
- Know electrical systems basics and have a good working knowledge of NEC for field reviews and Commissioning requirements/testing.
- Solid/strong working knowledge/experience/background of control systems, BACNet, Tridium networks, and overall “systems” functional testing sequences, steps, procedures, and integration.
- Knowledge of air and water testing/adjusting/balancing procedures and expectations.
- Strong knowledge in fire alarm systems and integration.
- Working knowledge of architectural, structural, civil documents to understand how the mechanical/electrical systems are integrated into the building.
- Good understanding of Specifications Divisions and where to go in the various sections in coordinating responsibilities and various testing and documentation requirements of the project.
- Understanding of the many common Codes for Building, Plumbing, NFPA (fire, electrical, etc.), Mechanical, and Life Safety.
- Strong working knowledge relationship with computers, laptops, iPad type instruments, Microsoft Office, various M/E industry “Apps”.
- Comfortable using common field-testing equipment such as infrared cameras, light meters, IAQ meters, etc.

The Role We Want You For
The Senior Mechanical Preconstruction Engineer will participates in all aspects of the preconstruction process for HVAC and Plumbing systems to develop accurate, detailed cost estimates with a focus on heavy/ advanced manufacturing, industrial and mission critical projects. This role will expected to interact with engineers, architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, a multi-discipline estimating team, project supervision, and field personnel.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Periodically attend pre-bid meetings to become familiar with unique project requirements and analyze existing site conditions to determine required scope that is not already indicated
- Review and interpret project documents to determine job-specific material, equipment, and labor requirements for scope development
- Assist in preparing written scopes of work for subcontracts and suppliers and coordinating mechanical scopes with the work of other trades (e.g., civil, structural, architectural, electrical, etc.)
- Participate in pre-proposal design coordination meetings to support the development of pricing documents for conceptual estimates
- Perform quantity survey of mechanical systems and components using digitized software, and apply industry standard labor rates (e.g., MCAA, PHCC, etc.) to support the development of accurate cost estimates
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor for conformance with proposal requirements; level scopes and identify low cost/ best value responses while capturing assumptions, rationale, inclusions, exclusions, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of estimates used for bidding and budgeting purposes (including self-performed work); participate in internal estimate review process and assist with final recap of estimate for presentation to senior management
- Support project management tasks, including budgeting, schedule development, interim design review, change order pricing, procurement, value engineering, and vendor selection based on proposal development
- Coordinate with project teams to evaluate productivity for historical data and schedule/ cost forecasting purposes
- Perform quantity survey of completed designs and/ or past projects to support historical cost data collection and analysis
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or a combination of education (including trade schools) and professional experience.
- 5+ years experience in construction with 3+ years experience estimating mechanical systems (i.e., HVAC and Plumbing)

We build schools, medical offices, data centers, and many other types of buildings. This role will work closely with the engineering group and will provide support to sales, estimating, and production teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in structural analysis and engineering design principles for both gravity and lateral systems with various building materials including wood and steel. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to the engineering team (or individually) to move a project through the structural design phase
- Provide a complete structural calculations package for the entire design of modular units both individually and as a multi-unit complex for the state submission of each project
- Structural calculations are to include a comprehensive design of the modular unit for both the gravity and lateral systems
- Gravity designs consist of roof framing members, bearing walls, continuous span multi-layer plywood beams, structural steel clean-span trusses, engineered posts, built-up posts, HSS structural steel posts, floor joists, and wide flange structural steel chassis members
- Lateral design consists of roof and floor diaphragm sheathing, exterior wall shearwalls, interior wall shearwalls, and structural steel portal frames
- Ability to complete ‘special interest’ projects from start to finish including multi-story modular unit complexes, shipping container conversion projects, and others

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify site drainage, grading, and utility plans
- Produce detailed drawings and models using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD
- Create plan and profile drawings, alignments, and pipe network layouts
- Support engineering and design teams with technical drafting deliverables
- Maintain drawing standards and document control processes
- Review engineering inputs and ensure design documentation accuracy
- Assist in preparing technical drawings, material quantities, and estimates
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure deliverables meet project standards and codes
Required Experience
- Strong experience with Autodesk Civil 3D
- Experience developing:
- Pipe / pressure networks
- Plan and profile drawings
- Grading surfaces
- Utility layouts
- Familiarity with water, wastewater, or linear pipeline infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of drafting standards and design documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of Civil CAD drafting or engineering technician experience
- Associate degree, diploma, or certificate in Drafting, Design Technology, or similar
- Experience supporting civil infrastructure or water utility projects
- Knowledge of engineering standards, design guides, and construction practices

Position Description
A leading telecommunications and infrastructure services organization is seeking a Director of ISP (Inside Plant) to lead data center structured cabling and infrastructure operations in Phoenix, Arizona.
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing inside-plant (ISP) construction, structured cabling deployment, fiber infrastructure installation, and commissioning operations across hyperscale and enterprise data center environments. The Director will manage project delivery, field execution, and operational performance while ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality and safety standards.
This position will act as the primary client-facing operational leader for ISP initiatives, guiding technicians, project managers, and site leadership in the delivery of high-performance infrastructure solutions in both active and new-build data center campuses.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of ISP structured cabling and fiber infrastructure projects across multiple data center clients and campuses
• Manage and mentor project managers, field supervisors, foremen, and technicians supporting large-scale data center deployments
• Ensure accountability for project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety compliance
• Serve as the primary customer liaison for hyperscale and enterprise data center clients
• Oversee material procurement, workforce planning, and resource allocation
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for ISP installation, testing, and documentation
• Track and report division performance including revenue, project margins, backlog, and forecasting metrics
• Partner with leadership and business development teams to support growth initiatives and new project pursuits
• Ensure compliance with data center operational protocols, safety standards, and security requirements
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including OSP, electrical, engineering, finance, and operations to ensure seamless project delivery
Required Skills / Education
• 7–10+ years of leadership experience in ISP, structured cabling, or data center infrastructure environments
• Proven experience managing large-scale fiber optic and copper cabling deployments in data centers
• Strong understanding of BICSI standards, ANSI/TIA structured cabling standards, and NFPA safety codes
• Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center clients
• Deep knowledge of data center architecture including fiber distribution, containment systems, rack layouts, and testing protocols
• Experience using project management and construction tracking platforms (SiteTracker, Procore, or similar)
• Strong leadership, communication, and operational management skills
• BICSI RCDD certification preferred
• OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain within 30–45 days)
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
