We are seeking a high-performing Project Manager to lead and deliver complex technical and new product development (NPD) projects within a global technology environment. This role is responsible for driving projects from concept through launch while ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.


The Project Manager will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product, and business teams to manage project plans, track milestones, mitigate risks, and communicate progress to stakeholders. This role requires a proactive leader who can balance product requirements with technical constraints, facilitate decision-making, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates bring strong technical project management experience, NPDI phase-gate knowledge, risk management skills, and the ability to influence teams across global organizations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, product development, and operations to successfully deliver complex technical projects.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and work breakdown structures.
  • Drive projects through the New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) Phase-Gate process from concept through launch.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure milestones, deliverables, and timelines remain on track.
  • Identify project risks, issues, and blockers, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate project status, timelines, and key decisions to stakeholders and leadership through regular reporting.

Required Skills/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in technical project management, program management, or product development leadership.
  • Experience managing projects within New Product Development (NPD) or NPDI phase-gate frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, risk management, stakeholder communication, and change management.
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, or equivalent certification is preferred.

What you’ll be doing

  • The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare, coordinate manufacturing equipment to support new model launches as well as unit plant competitiveness.
  • Developing process plans for production lines within the powertrain department with direct support from the Manager.
  • Directly supporting other engineers or technicians through mentorship.
  • Leading the cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-productions trials and launch of production lines.
  • Creating and maintaining detail schedule and budget for assigned area.

Requirements:

The Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer II to work on a multi-discipline team to support the production of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems located in Huntsville, AL.

This is an onsite role with regular support required in a production missile integration facility.

This position requires strong communication skills to collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality. Experience with hardware integration and test, supplier first article inspections, production work instructions and failure investigation principals are strongly desired.

Candidate will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met. Candidate will ensure Technical Data Packages are maintained and updated as necessary. Decisions must be data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.

What You Will Do

  • Contribute to finding solutions to a wide range of technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical subsystems, including support in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon and at suppliers
  • Support first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations for production issues. Decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards
  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, subassemblies, and end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical issues

  • Periodic travel to suppliers or other program sites will be required (10-15%)

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
  • Experience with interpreting assembly and/or component drawings

What will you do?

- Lead the end-to-end mechanical design and engineering of hyperscale Data Center Infrastructure (DCI) systems, including liquid-cooled rack assemblies, CDUs, manifolds, enclosures, structural frames, and associated hydronic piping systems.

- Serve as the technical authority for single-phase and two-phase liquid cooling architectures, including primary and secondary loop design, in-rack distribution, and system integration within hyperscale data center environments.

- Define and validate operational performance requirements for liquid-cooled infrastructure, including pressure ratings, hydrostatic limits, temperature ranges, flow rates and uniformity, thermal expansion, durability, and serviceability.
