The Position

The Quality ControlManager will develop, implement, manage and maintain effective Quality and Safety policies and procedures that meet or exceeds the criteria of federal, state, and business requirements.

Job Details

  • Conducts quality assurance audits of National Strand production assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved.
  • Develop and implement best practices to ensure consistency in the quality of the product.
  • Be a point of contact for customers when discussing technical specifications or complaints.
  • Act as the focal point for all quality-related issues and report to management as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate all internal and external audit activities, address non-conformities, and maintain audit history.
  • Provide weekly reports on quality performance and identify areas of improvement.
  • Consults with management to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems.
  • Functions as an information source to departments when special and critical quality issues occur.
  • Determine overall plant product quality by conducting and evaluating various product tests and tests related to steel wire making and processing.
  • Consult with plant management and personnel on better operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and product yields.
  • Discuss plant evaluation with plant management, make appropriate recommendations, and set a timetable for improvement and corrections.
  • Work with accounting to ensure scrap and reject reporting is accurate and timely.

Job Requirements

Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. ISO 9000 experience preferred or similar.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited University. Master’s degree is preferred. Metallurgical knowledge is highly desirable.

Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication. Proven capability to collaborate with non-professional as well as professional stakeholders at all levels. Excellent business communication and leadership; ability to manage multiple demands.

Technology: Strong working knowledge of MS Office and other support software. Knowledge of MS SharePoint is highly desirable.

Position Summary

The Fabrication Operations Manager is responsible for the full operational leadership of the fabrication and coatings, including Machine Shop (CNC lasers and press brakes), Welding & Fabrication, Fabrication Quality Control, and Powder Coating.

This role owns quality, throughput, schedule adherence, and operational discipline across all fabrication processes. The Fabrication Manager ensures that material flows through the division in strict alignment with engineering requirements, material control procedures, and production schedules.

This leader is accountable for delivering complete, accurate, and quality-verified material to final assembly in accordance with quality expectations. This position operates with high autonomy and reports directly to the EVP, of Operations.


Core Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership

  • Lead and manage all fabrication functions:

  • Press Brake Operations

  • Welding processes (MIG, TIG, structural weldments)

  • Balance capacity across cutting, forming, welding, and coating.

This role is responsible for:

  • Implementing asset-level OEE measurement for all major production equipment.
  • Defining and standardizing Planned Production Time, downtime categories, performance rates, and quality criteria.
  • Ensuring accurate and disciplined daily data capture for Availability, Performance, and Quality metrics.
  • Establishing clear downtime classification codes and enforcing reporting integrity.
  • Reviewing OEE performance daily with supervisors and conducting formal weekly performance analysis.

What You Will Do: 

  • Understand and/or generate a program statement of work (SOW) and other defined customer component application requirements. 
  • Develop and/or sustain a proactive Obsolescence Management process to deliver cost saving obsolescence mitigation strategies and solutions. 
  • Drive resolution through support or execution of lifetime buys, selections of alternate parts, redesign efforts or other mitigation strategies and will facilitate and support contract negotiations, basis of estimates, and supplier statements of work for proposal efforts. 
  • Interact with Program and customer leadership on a regular basis to communicate status of mitigation strategies. 
  • Conduct trade study analysis help identify cost effective obsolescence driven cut in points for proposed unit redesigns.

Qualifications You Must Have:  

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience with any combination of the following:
  • Experience with proactive and reactive component obsolescence management methodologies. 
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and presentation skills to adequately discuss system impact of component obsolescence issues. 
  • Experience with project management working with schedules, costs, and integration of stakeholder needs throughout the obsolescence process. 
  • Financial and Contract Management experience with proposals, BOE, EVMs, SOWs, CLINs and CDRLs. 
  • Experience with BOM (Bill of Material) development and management for developmental and production programs. 
  • Risk and Opportunity business case analysis experience supporting sustainment vs redesign cut in decisions.
