Fast Growing Precision Machining & Assembly Operation servicing the Aerospace and Defense Market (Raytheon/Lockheed/Northrup) seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to join its team. This is a newly created role due to sustained growth and will be involved in complex fixture design work, design for manufacturing review, BOM development, and other process improvement projects. This is a newly created position within the company. The company has recently expanded operations with a brand new building and is consistently adding over 7 mill in annual capital equipment every year. Location is the Tualatin/Sherwood area of Portland. We are open to new grads OR candidates with more experience. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving CNC machining processes through a combination of fixture/tooling design, process development, and production support. This role works cross-functionally with programming, quality, and production teams to drive efficiency, consistency, and manufacturability in precision machining operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
•Process Optimization: Develop and refine CNC machining processes to improve throughput, reduce variation, and ensure reliable, high-quality production.
•Fixture & Tooling Design: Support the design and improvement of fixtures and workholding solutions to enable repeatable setups and efficient machining.
•Manufacturing Documentation: Create and maintain detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings, setup instructions, and documentation to support production and quality.
•Production Support: Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support during machining, including first-article runs and new part introductions.
•Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with programmers, machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to ensure seamless process integration.
•DFM Involvement: Participate in DFM reviews as needed to provide feedback on part geometry, tolerances, and manufacturing considerations.
•Continuous Improvement: Contribute to lean initiatives focused on process stability, scrap reduction, and productivity gains.
•Standards & Revision Control: Maintain organized design files, standards, and revision histories using PDM or ERP tools.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
•Proficient in SolidWorks (or similar) for mechanical design and drawing creation.
•At least 6 months of experience in Fixture Design or working in a machine shop setting.
•Solid understanding of CNC machining, tooling, and workholding fundamentals.
•Familiarity with GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support shop floor operations.
•Organized and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:
- Master's degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities Provide technical direction in areas such as reactor and fluid systems design, reactor physics, materials development, component design for steam generators, pumps, and valves, instrumentation and control for reactor and propulsion plants, testing and quality control, radiation shielding, and chemistry and radiological controls; review designs and analyses from laboratories, shipyards, and industry partners; coordinate with fleet units to ensure safe and reliable nuclear plant operation.
