Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to serve as an Engineering lead for a space mission payload critical to our nation to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

This role includes Engineering and project management through all phases of the program, from concept development and industry trade study preliminary and detailed design, payload integration & test, space vehicle integration and test and potentially on-orbit demonstration.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Your mission, should you choose to accept:

• Functioning as the primary payload interface for customers, program management, product line engineering leadership, mission assurance and subsystem engineering teams
• Providing Technical Support / Oversight including
  • Conducting technical trades in coordination with the Mission and Space Vehicle SE teams
  • Ownership of payload specs and requirements traceability 
  • Developing and managing Interface-Control Documents (ICD) between the prime and sub-contractor
  • Playing a key role in major program milestone and readiness reviews
  • Planning, design, and execution of testing strategies to ensure payload qualification, exercise payload functionality and measure performance
  • Supporting the development of operational mission scenarios and payload concepts of operations

• Payload sub-contractor oversight, including cost and schedule performance including
  • Review / Tech Eval of subcontractor proposals
  • Cost account manager (CAM) for Payload WBSs using EVMS
  • Recognizing and mitigating payload related issues and risks

Research Engineer – Applied Machine Learning

We are seeking Research Engineers to advance the state of the art in large-scale machine learning, spatiotemporal modeling, and multimodal reasoning. Our projects span object tracking, re-identification, geo-localization, chemical and biological defense, and scene understanding. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and applied research, turning novel algorithms into robust, deployable systems.

Responsibilities:

• Prototype and optimize algorithms in computer vision and machine learning.

• Build scalable training and inference pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS EKS).

• Perform data curation, model evaluation, and system integration.

• Collaborate with academic and government research partners.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, or related field.

• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and scalable model training.

• Strong background in algorithms and software design.

• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred:

• Experience with geospatial data (PostGIS, GeoJSON, QGIS).

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and distributed data systems.

• 7+ years of experience in design and construction life cycle
• Responsible for the coordination and completion of project/program.
• Oversees all aspects of projects/program.
• Managing all aspects of project execution including design development and construction administration processes as well as expertise in implementing and optimizing project management platforms such as Smartsheets, Procore etc. will be beneficial.
• Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of project/program.
• Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of project/program.

How You'll Contribute:

The Market TechOps Leader is responsible for leading technical operations within an assigned market, overseeing project management and installation execution to ensure consistent delivery performance, financial results, and client satisfaction. This role serves as the primary operational counterpart to market Sales leadership, aligning delivery capabilities with pipeline demand and client commitments. Reporting to the Territory TechOps Leader, the Market TechOps Leader provides leadership for Project Managers, TechOps Leaders, and associated delivery teams. What You'll Do:

* Provide market-level leadership for technical operations, overseeing Project Managers and TechOps Leaders responsible for project execution and installation delivery.

* Partner closely with market Sales leadership to align delivery capacity, execution strategy, and resourcing with pipeline demand and client expectations.

* Ensure projects are executed on time, within scope, and in alignment with financial and quality targets.

* Monitor project performance across the market, identifying risks, delays, or cost issues and implementing corrective actions as needed.

* Enforce operational standards, processes, and workflows to drive consistency, quality, and efficiency across project teams.

* Coordinate resource utilization across projects, balancing workloads and supporting cross-project or cross-market needs when required.
