The Engineering Leader is responsible for leading the Design Engineering organization across the company and ensuring consistent, high-quality, and profitable project delivery. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering Operations, this role oversees Engineering Managers and Design Engineering teams, driving accountability, operational efficiency, and technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.



A core focus of this position is ensuring Design and Project Engineers are positioned to perform their highest-value work-developing client relationships, shaping execution strategies, and ensuring system accuracy and expected functionality. This role partners closely with Engineering Documentation leadership to ensure documentation and support workflows are effectively leveraged, allowing Design Engineering resources to remain focused on technical leadership and client-facing responsibilities.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:





  • Own the performance, development, and accountability of Engineering Managers leading Design Engineering teams, setting clear expectations and holding leaders responsible for team results, delivery quality, and professional growth.

  • Establish and sustain a culture of ownership and accountability across the engineering organization by defining measurable standards for project delivery, documentation quality, and client satisfaction, and addressing performance gaps directly.

  • Drive engineering efficiency and profitability by identifying misaligned workflows, reducing non-value-added engineering effort, and ensuring appropriate use of engineering support and documentation resources.

  • Partner with Support Engineering leadership to ensure effective utilization of engineering support teams, removing barriers that prevent smooth handoff and enabling Engineers to focus on high-value technical work.

  • Ensure Engineers are consistently focused on client relationship development, execution planning, technical accuracy, and system functionality throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Maintain visibility into presales pipeline and active project lifecycle status, comparing as-sold versus as-delivered labor, identifying value-engineering opportunities, and supporting financial performance improvement.

  • Collaborate with Field and Fabrication Services and Project Management leadership to align engineering capacity with project demand, participating in resource planning and ensuring engineering support meets business needs.

  • Establish, enforce, and audit engineering standards and delivery processes that support consistent, high-quality outcomes, reducing variability and improving first-time quality across projects.

  • Serve as the senior escalation point for engineering-related issues impacting project delivery or client satisfaction, intervening when projects are off track and guiding recovery plans with responsible managers.

  • Provide leadership input on hiring, succession planning, and organizational design for Engineering Manager roles, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and cultural expectations.

  • Track, analyze, and act on key engineering performance metrics, including utilization, margin contribution, rework rates, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction, using data to drive continuous improvement.



Required Skills and Experience





  • Bachelor Degree Required, preferably in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in systems integration, audiovisual engineering, or a related technical field with progressive leadership responsibility.

  • 3+ years of experience managing managers or leading large, multi-project technical teams.

  • AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.
    Demonstrated success improving team performance and delivering measurable business results.

  • Experience developing, implementing, and enforcing engineering standards and processes at scale.

  • Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle from design through commissioning.

The Senior Manufacturing / Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Job Description:

 

SMT / Through-Hole / 2nd Ops / 3rd Ops Process Support

  1. Review daily SMT or build schedule to ensure process readiness.
  2. Confirm all required items are complete and available prior to production:
  3. Job package with full build documentation.
  4. Manufacturing Process Instruction (MPI) reviewed and approved.
  5. Routing definitions for data collection.
  6. Validated reflow or wave solder profiles.
  7. ECOs, deviations, or special instructions incorporated into the MPI and/or job package.
  8. All required tooling available and verified.
  9. Review pre-build DFM, document known defects, and hyperlink details in the MPI.
  10. Lead cross-functional NPI kickoff meetings to review design requirements, risk areas, and special process considerations.
  11. Document and track NPI issues and lessons learned for future builds.
  12. Coordinate with Program Managers to resolve DFM showstoppers prior to build.
  13. Analyze previous quality data, identify recurring defects, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  14. Design, order, and verify all required tooling (stencils, wave solder pallets, press-fit fixtures, conformal coat fixtures, etc.).
  15. Maintain tooling logs, labeling, and readiness tracking within Omega Build Readiness.
  16. Inspect and sign off first article setups for critical processes (stencil printer, reflow oven, wave solder, etc.) using the First Article Checklist.
  17. Inspect initial boards after print and reflow for solder release, bridging, voids, and process anomalies. Document findings and sign off the First Article Report.
  18. Provide on-the-floor training for operators and technicians regarding new processes, corrective actions, or observed deficiencies.
  19. Support production by promptly responding to technical inquiries or line support issues.
  20. Exercise full authority to stop the line if repeated defects or safety concerns are observed.

 

Quality Data Review & Root Cause Analysis

 

  1. Review production data in Omega Data Collection, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  2. Review Daily, Weekly, and Customer Quality Reports to identify trends, recurring issues, or process gaps.
  3. Provide structured analysis and report findings to Quality and Production (using 8D or equivalent methodology).
  4. Document corrective actions and verify implementation during the next production run.
  5. Present findings and improvement updates in internal and customer quality meetings.

 

Other Responsibilities:

 

  1. Create and submit Post-Build DFM reports to Program Managers with improvement recommendations.
  2. Implement and validate ECO changes per revision control procedures.
  3. Perform and document detailed failure analyses for internal and customer returns.
  4. Participate in process improvement projects and defect-reduction initiatives.
  5. Provide customer-driven engineering services or special support requests.
  6. Develop and deliver internal technical training for operators and peers.

  • 8–12 years of hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing (PCBA, box-build, system integration).

  • Proficient in process validation, FAI, SPC, DOE, and yield improvement.
  • Familiarity with FactoryLogix and related MES/ERP systems.

Essential Requirements
12+ years of experience across all phases of software development, with proven technical leadership
Strong proficiency in C/C++/Go with deep expertise in Linux and distributed system programming
Expert-level knowledge of Linux, distributed systems, and storage technologies, including experience with complex system design and implementation
Skilled in Kubernetes for container orchestration, and familiarity with tools like Git (version control) and JIRA (issue tracking)
Exceptional design, debugging, and problem-solving skills, with advanced knowledge of performance evaluation for multi-threaded distributed systems

Desirable Requirements
Degree in Computer Engineering or related field

Compensation
Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $239,700 - $310,200.
