The Clinical Nurse Educator serves as a clinical expert, educator, and mentor for health system. This role partners with clinical leadership and frontline staff to support evidence-based practice, education, and professional development. The Clinical Nurse Educator functions in a team-based environment to strengthen clinical practice, promote quality outcomes, and support ongoing staff competency and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a clinical expert and educational resource for nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams
Design, develop, and implement clinical education programs using adult learning principles
Support onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing professional development initiatives
Mentor and coach clinical staff to promote best practices and high-quality patient care

Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
National nursing certification required
Minimum of two (2) years of full-time Registered Nurse experience required; five (5) years preferred
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and application of adult learning principles required
Licensure & Certifications
Current State of Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse required
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) / Health Care Provider certification required

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides skilled direct patient care (dialysis) and monitoring of renal dialysis patients. Operates all renal dialysis equipment and recognizes changes in the renal patient's condition while on dialysis. Administers medications and access hemodialysis catheters for the patient care techs as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Three years recent experience in general patient care and successful completion of 3 months probation period is required. Verification of course completion in accordance with all American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider guidelines is required. ?

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs the nursing process in a safe therapeutic manner in a designated clinic setting. Provides direct patient care (dialysis) and monitoring of renal dialysis patients. Oversees direct patient care of the ESRD patient on dialysis. Supports and adheres to University Health and department specific policies and standards. Mentors and serves as a clinical role model for all staff. Receives mentoring from Nurse Staff III and the Director of Dialysis Services.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
BSN is highly preferred. Must meet career ladder Staff Nurse II criteria for worked area. Two years or more of nursing experience required. Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card.

Experience working with EPIC EMR desirable.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides nursing care that is efficient, appropriate, and therapeutic for patients while ensuring that established security requirements are maintained (as defined by the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and Central Magistrate’s Office).
