- We are looking for positive, self-motivated, engaged and excited for growth individuals to join our team
- 38 bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day that present with various acuities.
- We are a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility that is able to intervene and administer thrombolytics.
- Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization
- We have 5 PODs in our department, depending on acuity, is where the patient will be assigned
- Behavioral Health Pod
- We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care
- All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit. RN's must have ACLS and PALS required. NIH highly preferred, must obtain within allotted timeframe.
Responsibilities:
The Paramedic, under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician is responsible for facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The Paramedic participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and task. The role of the Paramedic Nurse Extender also, includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and the oversight of unlicensed personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Must have a working knowledge of intramuscular, sublingual, oral, rectal, nebulizers, intravenous, and intravenous push medications-effect, side effects, drug to drug interaction and anaphylaxis protocol. Working knowledge of venous blood sampling, and cardiac monitor knowledge. 2. Working knowledge of the body's systems to include neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, primary and secondary trauma assessment. 3. Must have strong customer service, interpersonal skills and be able to work with a team. Responsible for providing safe patient care with an understanding and awareness of age appropriate and culturally aware needs. Able to assess a patient's needs and respond to direction by the Professional Registered Nurse and Physician. 4. Perform EKG'S 5. Perform Foley catheters 6. Start IV'S, IO'S & draw blood. 7. Transport patients to other departments. 8. May be required to monitor patients for arrhythmias and report abnormal rhythms and changes immediately to Charge Nurse and Nurse KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES - Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing. - Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. - Ability to work as a member of a team. - Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications. - H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- 1 year of experience as a Paramedic Preferred
- BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS Certification Upon Hire Required and
- ACLS Upon Hire Required and
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Paramedics new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date within 120 Days Required
- LP - Licensed Paramedic Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia and National Registry Preferred

Overview:
Piedmont Rockdale is a 161-bed, acute care, not-for-profit community hospital in Conyers that has provided compassionate, patient-centered care to Rockdale County and surrounding communities since 1954. We offer 24-hour emergency care, plus most major medical, surgical and diagnostic services.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Coordinate the movement of patients as it relates to admissions, transfers, and discharges and act as a liaison with Medical Staff to ensure that patient care is delivered in an efficient and safe manner.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of nursing program.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Five years experience working as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting; competent to work in multiple areas including acute and critical care settings; experience with conscious sedation required.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and have excellent assessment and prioritization skills. 3 years of leadership responsibility preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
BLS certification through American Heart Association
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists executive leadership in establishing strategic outcomes and coordinates entity-wide performance assessment and improvement activities related to patient flow. 2. Functions in an advisory capacity to Medical Staff and entity leadership in evaluating barriers and delays as they relate to admission, transfer and discharge goals.
3. Maximizes hospital throughput of inpatients through the safe and efficient coordination of the admission, discharge and transfer processes.
4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary leadership to establish standards and ensure accountability/ adherence to processes as they relate to admissions, transfers, and discharges.
5. Work with unit-level leadership to identify, monitor, and report trends that prohibit optimal patient flow.
6. Acts as liaison with other ancillary departments to ensure identified and anticipated discharge patients are triaged and streamlined accordingly. Checks on delays in all sub-processes, including lab, imaging, pharmacy consults, dialysis and any other department influencing the throughput of patients.
7. Works with case management, social work and inpatient units to prioritize patient discharges based off Geometric Mean Length of Stay (GMLOS) and similar indicators.
8. Using communication and problem solving skills, sets priorities, triages own workflow processes, works as a team member, and delegates responsibilities to other team members as needed.
9. Leads, interacts, motivates and communicates with a wide range of staff, physicians, patients, family members and other hospital personnel in a professional manner.
10. May act as a resource internally managing the coordination and delivery of education within the entity (for example, sepsis, etc).
11. Collaborates with the ED Flow Coordinator to assist in effective implementation when surge plans are enacted.
12. Demonstrates clinical knowledge to evaluate and prioritize patient throughput issues.
