The Department of Psychiatry at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland (MHMMCP) is seeking a fellowship-trained and board-certified Geriatric or Neuropsychiatrist to join a tertiary academic practice serving both rural and urban populations. Successful candidates will be gifted clinician-educators committed to improving the lives of seniors and their families, and excited to work with a team of like-minded colleagues. Candidates whose career experience demonstrates interest and expertise in the care of seniors with complex psychiatric needs would also be considered.
The Senior Psychiatry Division offers evaluation and treatment of older adult patients with a wide range and complexity of illnesses. We work closely with our primary care and specialty care partners. Our clinical staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists and clinical social workers. Our care continuum also includes Spring Harbor Hospital and MaineHealth Behavioral Health, a region-wide comprehensive mental health system. MHMMCP also includes a dedicated 21-bed geriatric/neuropsychiatry inpatient program, P6. The Emergency Department has 63 beds, including a 6-bed Acute Psychiatry Unit.
In addition to clinical care, we provide a major teaching resource for MHMMC. We train and mentor Psychiatry residents, Geriatric Medicine fellows, Tufts University School of Medicine medical students, and Social Work and Psychology interns. The Division of Geriatrics in the Southern Region of MaineHealth is currently seeking a Board-Certified Geriatrician to provide inpatient consultative care to hospitalized older adults.
Join a small, collaborative inpatient team of 3 experienced physicians and 2 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to provide Age-Friendly 4Ms care to older adults hospitalized at Maine’s largest Level 1 trauma center. While the focus of this position is inpatient, the Division of Geriatrics at Maine Medical Center includes 16 physicians and 18 APPs who provide care to older adults across the spectrum, including inpatient, facility-based, and outpatient primary care. This team of dedicated providers places high value on quality-improvement, systems-improvement, and optimal transitions of care.
In this role, you will provide inpatient Geriatric consults 5 days per week with a focus on complex care coordination and optimal medical management of hospitalized older adults. You will work with medical students, residents, and fellows and have opportunities for teaching at the bedside and in formal didactic sessions. As a consultant, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other specialties and disciplines to promote Age-Friendly Care across the healthcare system. This includes participating in the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP), which has been present at Maine Medical Center for over 20 years and has carried the Site of Excellence designation for over 10 years. This position does not participate in overnight call.

3. Administrative and Operational Leadership

MaineHealth Behavioral Health (MHBH) is currently hiring a psychiatrist to work in an innovative, flexible, float pool model, in inpatient settings across MHBH. The role provides inpatient psychiatric care, working with a multidisciplinary team, including directing the treatment team and planning pharmacologic and therapeutic interventions.
The position will be scheduled for between 30–40 weeks per calendar year, the amount to be determined by the Psychiatrist. This role is integral in allowing for continuity of high-quality patient care, across MHBH, as it provides coverage to support the team during vacations, leaves or other times when additional staffing is needed. MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Orthopedic Surgery Center (OSC) is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist to serve as the Associate Medical Director for the new center.
The successful candidate will join the OSC Leadership team and work closely with the OSC Medical Director to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of this new and growing center. This is a practicing position with .8 clinical FTE and .2 leadership/administrative FTE.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the inaugural team launching the new OSC in early 2027. Located in the greater Portland market, this new freestanding OSC will be part of a new, fully integrated Orthopedic Campus. A destination location for Northern New England, the new OSC will have 4 operating rooms and two procedure rooms and will treat a variety of ambulatory orthopedic patients, including joints, sports medicine, and other needs. Tasked with helping develop the anesthesia model and team, this position will be an integral part of the broader OSC care team.

The Medical Director and Division Chief of Geriatric Medicine will serve as a strategic and operational leader, partnering with practice administrators to ensure excellence in clinical care, patient safety, provider and staff satisfaction, and resource efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities:
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation’s economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
- Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
- Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers of aliens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations.
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
- Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
- Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications:
GL-9: You qualify for the GL-9 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
- Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
- Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.
If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:
- Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
- Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
- Apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws by utilizing various forms of complex technology that include surveillance, detection, situation awareness systems, and/or communications equipment.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.
