- Setting: 14-bed ICU with plans for expansion; collaborative team includes physicians, APPs, and an e-ICU support team
Job Requirements
- Active Physician Assistant license in Illinois (PA-C preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in critical care / ICU settings
- Procedural competency: central venous catheter placement, arterial line placement, hemodialysis line placement; intubation skills preferred but not required
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in multidisciplinary ICU teams
- Willingness to participate in scheduled ICU rounds (10:00 AM and 10:00 PM)
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care to medically complex and critically ill patients in the ICU
- Manage an assigned caseload of 5–10 patients per shift and coordinate care with physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs)
- Perform critical care procedures including central line and arterial line placements and hemodialysis line placement; perform intubations as skill and comfort allow
- Participate in ICU rounds and collaborate with the e-ICU team to optimize patient outcomes
- Contribute to a positive team culture and support unit growth and operational improvements
