As an Inspector for Tooling and Machined Parts, you will be essential in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in our manufacturing processes. Your keen attention to detail will enable you to conduct thorough inspections of tooling and machined parts, verifying compliance with stringent specifications and quality standards. Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain daily work assignments from the team leader or supervisor and review work orders and blueprints to determine required tasks.

  • Inspect preparatory cleaning, application of sealant, protective coatings, and leak detection coatings of integral fuel cells.

  • Perform and witness leak checks, determining the source of leaks and evaluating the extent of repairs required.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to evaluate and coordinate improvements in build processes and defect reduction initiatives.

  • Initiate and document any nonconforming materials or assemblies according to specifications and procedures.

  • Conduct audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance.

  • Use precision measuring instruments and shop mathematics to verify that all parts and assemblies meet quality requirements.

  • Review manufacturing plans and other documentation for completeness and compliance, identifying any discrepancies.

  • Inspect mockups of engineering design changes to ensure adherence to specifications.

  • Perform line checks to investigate whether rejectable conditions exist on other assemblies or airplanes.

  • Indicate Quality Assurance acceptance by stamping the appropriate paperwork and processing completed records.

  • Review previously accepted systems, customer requirements, or FAA conformities to determine if re-inspection is required.

  • Work with engineering and the FAA on red label equipment to ensure proper segregation from production parts.

  • Document discrepancies and report them to the appropriate personnel for resolution.

  • Assist in the training and instruction of lower-grade inspectors, providing guidance as needed.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs. to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

The Boeing Electromagnetic Effects (E3) Group seeks Electromagnetic Effects Design and Analysis Engineers at Associate (Level 2), Experienced (Level 3), and Expert (Level 4) levels. The successful candidate will be based in the Puget Sound region (Washington State) and support Boeing Defense, Space & Security commercial-derivative aircraft programs such as the U.S. E-7A and the KC-46A tanker, among others.

The engineer will develop and validate Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements and architectures to integrate complex components and subsystems into higher-level platforms. Responsibilities include defining and conducting tests to validate designs to requirements, and providing EMI/EMC expertise during design, modification, supplier engagement, and manufacturing activities.

E3 environments include: Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Lightning, High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Precipitation Static (P-static), Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), and related environments.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation, and other analyses to predict component, interconnect, and system performance and to optimize designs for E3 performance.
  • Work (with minimal direction at higher levels) to achieve electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronics, wiring, and structure.
  • Interface with manufacturing and suppliers on complex E3 design aspects to assure system-level compatibility; identify and report achievements and issues to program management and customers.
  • Review supplier test plans and test reports for technical correctness; identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support project management by contributing to development of work statements, budgets, schedules, and design/review inputs.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and suppliers to assess changes to equipment, determine impacts on electromagnetic characteristics, and recommend mitigations.

Additional responsibilities (as applicable by level and assignment):

  • Develop and implement test automation for aircraft modifications.
  • Apply EMI engineering methods to document and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Apply conversion, correction, and antenna factors to EMI/EMC analyses and tests.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams and present technical results in internal and external reviews.
  • Process engineering data into tables, graphs, and deliverables for inclusion in reports.
  • Support or conduct aircraft-level E3 testing.
