Highlights Include:
- St. Luke’s Division of Pediatric Nephrology is currently the only pediatric nephrology program in the Lehigh Valley area.
- Through a partnership with DaVita Dialysis, the Division of Pediatric Nephrology offers the only pediatric dialysis (PD and HD) services in the region. Rounding on outpatient dialysis patients is required. These modalities are also available for patients in our PICU and inpatient pediatric unit.
- In 2023, St. Luke’s announced the establishment of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital at the Bethlehem Campus and is a proud member of the Children’s Hospital Association, representing decades of growth and investment in pediatrics and the Network’s commitment to pediatric services.

The HCM Center at St. Luke’s, now in its 15th year of operation, serves a growing patient population referred from a broad geographic region across eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey. The center currently manages approximately 700 active patients and receives 2–3 new referrals each week. Active programs include myosin inhibitor therapy (with more than 70 patients enrolled), alcohol septal ablation, and surgical septal myectomy. The network offers comprehensive expertise in electrophysiology procedures, device implantation, and advanced heart failure management. Genetic testing and counseling are available through multiple vendors. Clinical outcomes have been comparable to those reported by large academic urban centers.

Position Overview:

- Current shifts are 11 AM to 9 PM (10 hour) and we are working towards the goal of 24/7 coverage
- Malpractice coverage

About the St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine:
- The Pediatric Emergency Department at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is a 6 bed unit (currently undergoing an expansion project to 11 beds) providing care to over 10,000 children per year.
- St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and Department of Pediatrics consists of inpatient, neonatal, emergency medicine, specialty and primary care providers spread across a variety of practice locations.
- Pediatric EM providers can admit patients to the Children’s Hospital’s 17 bed inpatient unit and 8 bed PICU. A pediatric hospitalist and pediatric intensivist are in house 24/7.
- The department is supported by a growing team of pediatric specialists spanning 40 specialty areas including pediatric surgery, GI, endocrinology, nephrology, developmental pediatrics, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiology, anesthesia, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and more!
- Pediatric residency programing training 6 pediatric residents per year.
- Robust 16 campus Network spread over a diverse geographic area providing emergency care for over 320,000 patients annually.
- St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine program includes comprehensive stroke centers, 4 PCI centers, a level 1 trauma center, a level 2 trauma center and four level 4 trauma centers.
