How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

  • Prioritizes and organizes delivery of nursing care and consults with other specialists as appropriate and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Teaches patients and families the anatomy and physiology of heart attacks and discusses medication, social habits, exercise philosophy, diet and formulation of short- and long-term goals after discharge.

  • Directs individual patients in graded physical exercise programs according to tolerance level and may assist with inpatient and outpatient exercise groups. Demonstrates knowledge in Rehabilitation exercise equipment including but not limited to treadmills, cycle ergometers, upper body ergometers, step machines and free weights.

  • Assesses patient's physical and emotional adaptation to disease and reports concerns in a timely, appropriate manner. Responsible for chart review, making sure all necessary documents for procedure are present. Responsible for patient assessment to ensure that patients are prepared for scheduled procedures.

  • Writes initial nursing histories and develops individual care plans for each patient.

  • Presents in-service programs to other departments and community organizations to familiarize others regarding the prevention of heart disease and rehabilitation of heart patients.

  • Consults with physicians as to patient progress and assists physician in determining patient readiness for discharge.

  • Nursing responsibilities focus on the preventive and restorative healthcare needs of the cardiovascular and pulmonary patients.

  • Communicates with the Charge RN and Cardiac Rehab Medical Director and the patient's physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition as appropriate.

  • Assists with the orientation, education and training of all members of the Cardiac and Pulmonary rehab unit.

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

  • Documents patient care given.

  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

  • Current state RN license 
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 14 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years RN Acute Care experience; assist patients to complete their post op recovery program

How you'll contribute

  • Proficient in assessing patient conditions and making timely determinations of patient needs.

What we are looking for

  •  Current Nevada State RN license 
  •  Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. 
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 14 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required within 30 days of hire.
  • A minimum of (3) years RN experience in an acute hospital setting
