The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) – Brigham & Women’s Hospital (BWH) Department of Medicine seeks an academic and clinical leader to serve as Chief of the MGH-BWH Division of Palliative Care, Aging, and Geriatric Medicine. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of palliative care and geriatric medicine as the Division becomes integrated across two of the nation’s leading medical institutions. A primary responsibility of the new Division Chief will be to create and build a new Palliative Care clinical service (for both oncology and non-oncology patients) at the BWH location, and to collaborate with the MGB Cancer Institute on designing an enterprise-wide strategy.

The Chief will work closely with faculty and leadership in the Department of Medicine at MGH-BWH to advance the Division’s mission in clinical care, education, research, and community health. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in clinical care, leadership, administration, and management, as well as a record of research and academic achievement. They will bring a collaborative, forward-thinking approach, with a special emphasis on transparent, effective communication, deep listening, and the ability to unite and inspire teams around a shared vision. The Division of Palliative Care, Aging, and Geriatric Medicine (PCAGM) at MGH-BWH is the academic home for 70 faculty members, many of whom have built nationally recognized programs that advance clinical care, research, and education. The Division supports robust training programs for medical students, internal medicine residents, and 15 palliative care and geriatric medicine fellows. The clinical activities of the Division span multiple outpatient practices and inpatient consultative programs throughout the Mass General Brigham health system. Responsibilities:

  • Full-time inpatient role with shared call and teaching responsibilities

  • Manage acute psychiatric conditions in the context of coexisting medical issues.
  • Collaborate closely with medical and surgical consultants, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to coordinate integrated care.
  • Conduct daily patient rounds and participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications and other relevant therapies.

This is a unique hybrid role that blends academic medicine, inpatient care, teaching, research, and community-based clinical practice.

This position includes work at Tufts Medical Center in both academic inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, combined with community-facing care at Melrose Wakefield Hospital and our Stoneham clinic . This integrated model offers a rare opportunity to collaborate across academic clinical care and community environments while caring for a broad and diverse patient population.

Tufts has been at the forefront of scientific advancement in tick-borne disease research since Lyme disease was first described in the United States in the 1970s. The Tufts Lyme Disease Initiative includes 19 faculty and over 50 members with a focus on tick-borne disease research, making it an outstanding environment for collaboration and research. Currently members of the Tufts Lyme Disease Initiative have over $50 million dollars in active grant funding for the study of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

  • Provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient clinical care at Tufts Medical Center

The Department of Dermatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking an academic medical dermatologist with interests in patient care and teaching. Our department of 17 dermatologists provides unique opportunities for medical dermatologists to practice and teach at the Medical Center in the Longwood Medical Area and in our department’s state-of-the-art practices in Chestnut Hill and/or Needham. About the department:
In addition to providing comprehensive care in the General Dermatology clinics, the Department also offers 16 subspecialty clinics and programs including atopic dermatitis, patch testing, hidradenitis suppurativa, high risk, pigmented lesions and melanoma. These clinics offer both in-depth and multidisciplinary care for the most complex patient conditions, and provide a more sophisticated learning environment for the Department’s trainees. Our cosmetic practice offers a full range of leading-edge services utilizing lasers, radiofrequency microneedling, and injectables. Additionally, an on-site pharmacist and inpatient consult service provide crucial support to patients and faculty. The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Dermatology research program is comprised of a group of researchers interested in clinical/translational research and epidemiology with a support structure of critical core resources. The Department of Radiology at Tufts Medical Center affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated Program Director (PD) to manage the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program.

The Department of Radiology at Tufts Medical Center (TMC) provides high-level academic radiology services in the heart of downtown Boston. Our Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program emphasizes a resident-centered curriculum. Residents benefit from complex and diverse cases from emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings. Residents gain a wide variety of experiences, particularly from trauma, stroke, transplant, and cancer imaging. TMC is a level-I trauma center with expanding transplant services including live donor liver transplant, renal, and cardiac transplants. Advanced cardiac imaging services are also growing in collaboration with the Cardiology department. Neuroradiology with advanced imaging techniques and state-of-the-art MRI scanner is also our strong point. We have the best Interventional Radiology team in the Boston area with culture of “yes,” and provides exceptional patient-centered care. Moreover, we provide comprehensive training environment for residents covering Chest, Abdominal, MSK, Breast, and Nuclear Medicine imaging. Residents spend a dedicated pediatric radiology rotation at Boston Children’s Hospital. We received “continued accreditation” by ACGME this year. Our department offers ESIR pathway for interested residents. Our department currently has two fellowship programs (ACGME NST programs) – MRI fellowship and Emergency and Trauma Radiology Fellowship.

Responsibilities

The Program Director (PD) manages the diagnostic radiology residency program, ensuring compliance with ACGME standards and maintains a high-quality training environment for 22 residents. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop educational curriculum, including but not limited to, weekly teaching schedule, introductory bootcamp for new first year residents, administer pre-call exams at the end of the first year of training. Annual review and update of the curriculum.

  • Supervise residents on quality improvement projects in conjunction with faculty

  • Resident wellness and engagement: Ensure adherence to Resident Wellbeing Policy and supervise Resident Wellness Committee

  • Recruitment effort: take a leading role in the annual Residency Match process, including, but not limited to, application reviews, conducting interviews, and creating a rank list of applicants.

  • Take a leading role in program evaluation, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives with support from GME

  • Work closely with APDs, the Program Coordinator, faculty, and the Chair to create a collegial learning environment in which everyone helps each other

PD receives dedicated academic time to fulfill the administrative role and is encouraged to engage in faculty development through radiological and educational societies (e.g., Association of Academic Radiology, Association of Program Directors in Radiology) and GME/ACGME-led faculty development programs.


Qualifications

  • Completed a medical degree (MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree)

  • Currently ABR Board Certified and practicing clinical radiology.

  • Is or eligible to be an active physician licensure in the State of Massachusetts.

  • Strong commitment in resident education and at least 3 years of experience in academic radiology teaching (e.g. Residency PD or APD, Fellowship PD, or equivalent). At minimum, an applicant should have worked at a radiology department that has ACGME-accredited radiology residency program and actively involved in resident teaching for at least 3 years.

  • Familiarity with ACGME accreditation process and ability to work with GME

  • Excellent communication and management skills.

The salary range for this position is $440,000.00 - $535,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
