6NT is a 36 - private bed unit specializing in cardiac care for patients who have had open heart surgery. We see cardiovascular/thoracic patients that are post-CABG, heart caths, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and many other cardiothoracic surgical procedures. We also see general medical-surgical patients that may have a primary cardiac diagnosis or history with comorbidities that may need telemetry monitoring, as well as those patients needing critical cardiac drips. On 6NT, we train our staff to detect medical issues before they become a problem, so they can respond to those emergent situations quickly and confidently. We have many opportunities for assessments, patient/family teaching, IVs, wound care, lab value analysis and medication administration/ management. We encourage communication and collaboration in an environment that is engaging and rewarding for our health care professionals, as well the patients on our unit.

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and a MedSurg specific competency validation.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation. Skills completion and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program’s tracking software.

Summary:

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist will perform a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures, will provide support for other imaging technologists as needed, and help to facilitate smooth and efficient patient flow. The MRI Technologist will demonstrate flexibility by working other shifts and/or at other campuses as needed or required. The Technologist must be able to troubleshoot basic maintenance, participate in QA, and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system. Expectation to participate in ongoing education, safety, and technical advances within their scope of licensure. The incumbent must be able to provide basic MRI screening of patients and employees, prepare maintenance and repairs, participate in QA, and resolve issues related to MRI safety. • Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintain specimen integrity
• Demonstrates good communication skills by competently interacting with customers, patients, family members, nurses, physicians, clients, and co-workers.
• Operates the laboratory computer system to document specimen information, patient registration, order entry, collection lists, and other assigned tasks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned (stand-by/on-call, inventory, special projects, cross-training, etc.).
• Completes associate performance evaluations and annual competency assessments in a timely manner.
