Responsibilties:A day in the life of a Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Delivery of nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care, to provide and ensure safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care.

The Manager of Patient Safety and Quality acts in conjunction with the Director of Patient Safety & Quality to provide leadership for quality & safety improvement initiatives. Collaborates with Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) initiative-focused groups, clinical transformation services and quality councils to achieve transformational and sustainable outcome improvements using project/program management, process and system mapping, reliability science data driven strategies, evidence based best practices and quality improvement strategies. Provides ongoing support, instruction, and leadership to meet and exceed all accreditation standards, and to ensure ongoing readiness for accreditation throughout all accredited programs. Works with the Director Patient Safety and Quality to respond to and coordinate investigation by the Joint Commission, Department of Health (DOH) and other external regulatory agencies.
Responsibilties:A day in the life of a Manager of Patient Safety and Quality at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Orient and mentor new Department of Patient Safety and Quality team members. Provides feedback to Director of Patient Safety and Quality on team member performance evaluations
- Provide expert knowledge, leadership and mentoring in patient safety & quality initiatives utilizing safety and high reliability science.
- Monitor standards of practice to ensure compliance with codes of internal and external regulatory and accrediting agencies including: a. The Joint Commission b. NJ State and Federal Codes (i.e.: DOH, OSHA) c. Professional review organizations
- Chair organizational level committees/councils (i.e. Regulatory Steering Committee, Performance Improvement Committee).
- Facilitates/coordinates regulatory activities throughout all accredited programs.Collaborates with staff, physicians, and administration to ensure successful regulatory surveys.
- Facilitate patient safety and environment of care rounds with interprofessional collaboration with utilization of the Joint Commission AMP monitoring tool.
- Lead onsite regulatory surveys to respond to and coordinate investigation by the Joint Commission, DOH and other external regulatory agencies.
- Develops and implements hospital wide training to maintain compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
- Facilitate and lead highly functioning teams organized around quality & safety initiatives.

- Bring safety and quality events, concerns and needs to the local morning safety huddle.
- Encourage event reporting and transparency related to events, concerns, needs, processes to identify precursor and safety events.
- Identify & implement data driven strategies to ensure team's success.
- Utilize the Quality dashboards to drive improvements by the HMH initiative-focused improvement work, clinical transformation service, or quality council.
- Strategize with personnel at all levels to develop and coordinate patient safety programs.
- Create and maintain timely and thorough progress reports that include key driver diagrams, run charts, Agile methods and PDSA testing documentation.
- Engage all levels of caregivers and staff in advancing patient safety through HRO training, quality initiatives addressing small wins and when designing system improvement.
- Develop metrics and report key quality & safety metrics to accurately demonstrate improvement in safety & quality across the medical center and network.
- Provide timely, actionable feedback and reports to clinical, administrative and support staff on all safety & quality initiatives.
- Ensure appropriate referral and follow up for events including escalation for regulatory reporting. Increase transparency, reinforce high reliability and advance the safety culture by participating in and facilitating safety huddles, patient safety activities, just culture reinforcement and shared learning. Facilitate the NPSF RCA-2 process as needed.
- Effective trend analysis of performance data with comparison over time to internal and external benchmarks to identify improvement opportunities, and progress.
- Attend root cause analysis meetings as specific to HMH initiative-focused group, clinical transformation service, or quality council focus area.
- Direct patient and team member safety by identification of actual or potential safety issues. Advance & enhance professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional networking opportunities to maintain and extend expertise.

The Radiology Technologist performs general x-ray procedures consistent with industry standards, regulations and Meridian policy, under the direction of the Physician.
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday from 9am-7pm and Saturday/Sunday from 8am-4pm.
Responsibilties:A day in the life of a Radiology Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Communication: Explains procedures to patients to inform and alleviate potential anxiety and to minimize need for additional exposure. Informs patients of follow up instructions as required. All information relayed to patients is clearly and accurately documented in the charts.
- Compliance: Consistently complies with CLIA, OSHA, and other state/government regulatory standards/ requirements and agencies. Refers regularly to the POL Policy Manual. Maintains records or logs as required by regulatory agencies.
- Customer Service: Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Smiles, making patients/visitors feel welcome and important; makes direct eye contact; responds promptly to patients' needs; monitors radiology schedule or requests and works to ensure full patient satisfaction.
- Documentation: Reviews chart in advance of patient intake. Completes all required documentation according to standards established by the physician, in an accurate, legible and timely manner, and enters the date of service using MM/DD/YYYY format; Signs and dates all charts within a timely manner.
- Equipment Maintenance: Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot equipment. Maintains radiology equipment by performing scheduled cleanings/tests and documents results. Acts quickly and responsibly to ensure equipment is functioning properly.

- Post Scan Procedures: Develops films of acceptable quality with minimum retakes. Completes proper forms and documents findings for physician review. Enters all required information into the database. Prints reports and distributes as per practice policy.
- Pre-Procedure Responsibilities: Obtains required demographic information from patient and verifies insurance coverage prior to initiating procedure. Completes pertinent patient history and accurately records data into medical record and/or radiology equipment.
- Radiology Procedures: Verifies the identity of the patient by asking the patient's full name and date of birth, which should be compared to the physician order. Assists the patient on and off the x-ray table as needed and assesses the immediate environment for potential safety concerns.
- May be involved in rooming patients including taking vitals and documentation in EPIC.

The X-ray Technologist is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations.
Responsibilties:A day in the life of a Radiology Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, shielding, selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Select and operate equipment as required for specific procedures.2. Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, significant others and health care providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety. The collection of information is determined by the patient's needs or condition.3. In accordance with ALARA principles restricts radiation beam through proper & safe collimation, providing safe care to all patients.4. Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.5. Follows operational procedure to safely identify patient's images with name and MRN#, correctly mark the image as to the side of the patient taken.6. Processes & reconstructs all images using methods available.7. Maintains orderly x-ray room, including ordering and maintaining proper & adequate supplies as directed by head of the department.8. Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists providers when necessary in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients.9. Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient's instruction, maintenance of records, reception of patients and other administrative duties as required.10. Renders services and/or assistance to all patients depending on the individual patient's needs and abilities in moving, turning, getting on and off the x-ray tables, etc.11. All information relayed to patients is clearly and accurately documented in the charts.Consistently complies with CLIA, OSHA, and other state/government regulatory standards/ requirements and agencies.
Refers regularly to the POL Policy Manual.
Maintains records or logs as required by regulatory agencies.Customer Service: monitors radiology schedule or requests and works to ensure full patient satisfaction.Completes all required documentation according to standards established by the physician, in an accurate, legible and timely manner, and enters the date of service using MM/DD/YYYY format; Equipment Maintenance: Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot equipment.
