St. Luke’s pediatrics department is growing and expanding our offering of services. We are seeking providers who are excited by growth and new opportunities.
Highlights include:
~ Developmental Pediatrics practice is designed specifically to meet the needs of patients for this specialty area, including Quiet and Observation rooms to aid in provider assessments. In conjunction with experienced staff, the practice is supported by a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Social Worker who are dedicated to meeting complex care coordination needs. Robust specialty support including pediatric behavioral health, neurology, PT/OT/ST are also available to support patients.
~ In 2023, St. Luke’s announced the establishment of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital at the Bethlehem Campus and is a proud member of the Children’s Hospital Association, representing decades of growth and investment in pediatrics and the Network’s commitment to pediatric services.
~ St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics consists of inpatient, neonatal, emergency medicine, specialty and primary care providers spread across a variety of practice locations. The Network also has a robust base of family practice providers throughout the St. Luke’s service area.
~ The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 8-bed unit which opened in February 2020 at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, Bethlehem Campus. The unit is staffed by critical care intensivists and specially trained pediatric nurses and receives admissions from the Network’s 16 hospital campuses. The unit is also located adjacent to the 17-bed Inpatient Pediatric Unit allowing for easy transfer and collaboration across units.
~ The new Pediatric Emergency Department is a 6 bed unit located within St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and will expand to 11 beds at the completion of an ongoing construction project. The Pediatric ER provides care to over 10,000 patients each year at St. Luke's Children's Hospital.
~ The unit is supported by a growing team of pediatric specialists spanning 40 specialty areas including pediatric surgery, GI, endocrinology, nephrology, developmental pediatrics, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiology, anesthesia, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and more! Many are conveniently located at St. Luke’s Pediatric Specialty Center, the region’s only freestanding building dedicated entirely to pediatric services.

- The Pediatric Emergency Department at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is a 6 bed unit (currently undergoing an expansion project to 11 beds) providing care to over 10,000 children per year.
- St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and Department of Pediatrics consists of inpatient, neonatal, emergency medicine, specialty and primary care providers spread across a variety of practice locations.
- Pediatric EM providers can admit patients to the Children’s Hospital’s 17 bed inpatient unit and 8 bed PICU. A pediatric hospitalist and pediatric intensivist are in house 24/7.
- The department is supported by a growing team of pediatric specialists spanning 40 specialty areas including pediatric surgery, GI, endocrinology, nephrology, developmental pediatrics, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiology, anesthesia, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and more!
- Pediatric residency programing training 6 pediatric residents per year.
- Robust 16 campus Network spread over a diverse geographic area providing emergency care for over 320,000 patients annually.
- St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine program includes comprehensive stroke centers, 4 PCI centers, a level 1 trauma center, a level 2 trauma center and four level 4 trauma centers.

St. Luke’s Neurosurgical Associates (SLNA) based out of the Lehigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania, is seeking a BC/BE Neurosurgeon to join a collegial, well-established, hospital employed group of 10 neurosurgeons and 1 interventional neuroradiologist. This is the pre-eminent neurosurgery practice in the Lehigh Valley/Bethlehem/Easton region of Pennsylvania with a strong referral base and solid track record of developing multidisciplinary neuroscience programs with administrative support.
The special feature of this group is the quality of the partners and their scope of practice. There is excellent multi-disciplinary collaboration with neurology, neuro-oncology, physiatry, pain management and other services within the institution. Successful candidates will be comfortable with all aspects of general neurosurgery. Fellowship-training in GENERAL and COMPLEX SPINE is a must. Candidate will be expected to provide on-call general neurosurgery coverage. Most current partners have sub-specialty fellowship training but are comfortable with general neurosurgery. Primary call will be equitably shared with other providers in the group (on average 1 in 6 primary call). Significant inpatient support from trauma, medicine, and ICU services. Block OR time available for new providers in fully equipped OR’s.
Features of the practice:
- Network comprised of 16 campuses. Primary neurosurgical call is dedicated to physically cover the Neuroscience Hub (Level 1 Trauma, Comprehensive Stroke Center) as well as two level 2 trauma centers; ER calls can come from all locations, but anything urgent/surgical being transferred to one of the above
- Comprehensive Stroke Center, with separate cerebrovascular/endovascular call structure
- Minimal pediatric neurosurgery cases – stabilized and transferred
- Electronic office and hospital medical records (Epic), including home access including to PACS
- Referrals developed from extensive Network owned PCP practices, 13 Network ERs, neurology, spine & pain practice, oncology, ENT, etc. No in-network neurosurgery competition. 1 spine focused orthopedic surgeon in Network – very collegial relationship.
- Extensive core of Advanced Practitioners to assist in ORs, facilitate rounding, office volumes, etc.
- Neurosurgery group has recently transitioned to vertical AP model with each neurosurgeon partnering with one AP. New hire will have similar opportunity.
- Medical draw area of 1.1M residents in 11 counties
