Job Summary

Essential Functions

Patient Care

- Provide physical therapy services according to the written physician’s plan of care and the state Physical Therapy Practice Act.

- Assess and evaluate therapeutic, rehabilitative, and functional status; participate in developing the total plan of care.

- Evaluate the home environment to support patient safety and comfort.

- Assess muscle strength, mobility, gait, range of motion, and transfer abilities—with a hospice focus on comfort rather than rehabilitation.

- Direct physical therapy treatments and instruct patients/families on the use and care of therapeutic appliances.

- Identify and prioritize therapy needs and report patient responses or condition changes to the physician.

- Initiate the therapy program and instruct family/caregivers and interdisciplinary team members on therapy techniques and care goals.

- Train patients in the use of prosthetic devices when appropriate.

- Identify the need for additional home health services and make referrals as necessary.

- Provide consultation to patients, families, and caregivers.

Communication & Documentation

- Prepare and submit clinical notes, progress summaries, and discharge summaries per organizational policy.

- Participate in patient discharge planning to ensure smooth care transitions.

- Communicate effectively with physicians, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.

- Participate in interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings to support coordinated hospice care.

Additional Responsibilities

- Provide in-service education for nursing and organizational personnel as needed.

- Participate in peer consultation and QAPI activities.

- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants (PTAs) according to policy and state regulations.

- When therapy is the only skilled service, instruct, supervise, and evaluate home health aide care every two weeks.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.

- Licensed to practice as a physical therapist in the state of practice.

- Two years of relevant experience preferred; home health or community-based experience helpful.

- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.

This faculty member will function independently as a definitive diagnostic authority, providing expert interpretations that directly impact patient care and treatment planning, while communicating complex diagnostic information clearly to clinicians, learners, and patients. The breadth, complexity, and uniqueness in the pathological materials are remarkable. The successful candidate will also support the department’s academic mission through clinical and translational research that advances the understanding of GI disease.

The candidate will contribute expert insight to multidisciplinary tumor boards and disease-site conferences and provide educational lectures and advanced instruction to medical students, pathology residents, fellows, and faculty, drawing on recognized subspecialty expertise. Primary duties will include: 

  • Active participation in the inpatient and outpatient clinical practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Miami Kendall Medical Center, Desai Sethi Institute, Doral Commons, University of Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital. 

  • Participation in the advancement and education of “OB/GYN” medical students, residents, and fellows.?? 

  • Develops and carries out a comprehensive medical treatment plan addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains.

  • Performs physical assessment of patients in a logical and respectful manner. Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.

  • Gathers essential and accurate information through the review of pertinent records and interviews with the patient, family members, caregivers, and other health professionals. Reports to the responsible physician and complies with policy co-sig.

  • Reports hazardous or unsafe conditions, equipment malfunction, and supply instrumentation inadequacies to appropriate personnel.

  • Reports all Quality Assurance (QA) incidences, including mediation errors, to responsible physician using department guidelines.

Department Specific Functions  

Members of the Generalist Division provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecologic care to women working alongside allied health professionals, specialists and subspecialists in both the University of Miami/ UHealth and Jackson Health Systems. Specialty care includes uterine fibroids, sexual health, pelvic pain, vulvar abnormalities, family planning, preconception counseling, cervical dysplasia, and anal dysplasia. A strong commitment to teaching medical students, residents and fellows, and conducting research are prerequisites for leading the

Generalist Division in the role as Division Chief. Clinical investigation includes a broad range of domains, including but not limited to patient oriented, translational, epidemiologic, behavioral, outcomes, implementation or health services research. 

In addition, faculty will have the opportunity for daily interaction and teaching to our 28 residents and medical students. All candidates should be dedicated to providing high quality patient care and exemplary teaching. The department is composed of 30+ faculty members and is based at the University of Miami/ UHealth and Jackson Health Systems in Miami, which is easily accessible and centrally located in Miami, Florida. The Jackson Memorial Holtz Women’s & Children’s Hospital averages 4,000 deliveries a year and has a level 3 NICU staffed by UHealth neonatologists. The Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial has been recognized by the Maternal Safety Foundation as an Accreta Center of Excellence and as VBAC Center of Excellence. 

Additional responsibilities: 

  • Outpatient clinics.

  • Direct care to OB/GYN patients.

Position Responsibilities

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida is seeking board certified/board eligible urologists to join our growing full-time academic faculty.

  • Mount Sinai is an accredited urology residency program and all faculty are required to be actively involved in resident and medical student education.

  • Qualified candidates should be willing to participate in clinical practice, research and teaching.

  • Physicians interested and highly motivated to build a primary care practice.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Eligible - Urology

  • Florida License - required

  • Previous Experience - preferred

  • Bilingual English/Spanish – preferred

  • Preferred: candidates that have the desire to practice female pelvic medicine, reconstructive surgery, Urologic Oncology, and general urology throughout Miami-Dade County.
